ST – don’t underestimate BO.
Barack Obama is an intelligent man; he knows he has two opponents, George W Bush and Sara Palin. (McCain is irrelevant as he appeals only to RINOS) GWB leaves office on Jan 20 and provides an easy target to smear McCain with guilt by association. Sara Palin is currently more popular than Obama. She ridiculed him during the RNC, he took a cheap shot to return the favor.
BO has been introduced to the American voters as a gifted candidate who can energize an audience when he follows the script, but has difficulty keeping his audience when he deviates from prepared text. BO had to distance himself from lifelong associates when he used the DNC to announce he is proud of his country. His resume is lateral, lawyer, organizer, legislator (state and federal).
Sara Palin is new to the national political scene and has not been damaged by endless primary battles. She embodies the American Dream that anyone can grow up to be president, and she has taken steps to reach that goal. She appears at ease with an audience and connects with people on a personal level. Her resume is vertical PTA, city council, mayor, governor.
Over 100 years ago, George Washington Plunckitt understood politics to be a business, and you had to be trained up to it to succeed. Obama received his training in the Chicago political machine, and he learned well, witness his election to office. Also note that he was able to take all Camp Clinton could throw at him and manage to defeat the candidate many believed would be the first woman president of the U.S.
Barack Obama knows he has to keep McCain on defense and damage the image of Palin. And time is short. This could not be left to anonymous staffers, it had to come from the candidate himself.
For one whose political strength is to move people with his choice of words and delivery, this prepared patter was no accident. If it bombed, the cleaver candidate could defend it with ‘plausible denyability.’ The ploy may have worked. Obama captured headlines, and pundits are defending the ‘pig with lipstick’ as a reference to McCain’s attempt at change, while his true audience got the message he intended.

Joe Biden is now basically meaningless.

Which leads me to believe Hillary is going to be the Veep. Biden is to stupid and to irrelevant to matter. Where as with Hillary as Veep, just 1 heartbeat from being President, it suddenly becomes a relevant position. And bet your bottom dollar, if Hillary is just 1 heart beat from the presidency, that last heartbeat will come soon after whomever takes their oath of office.

I know, that I might be taken as crazy, but I still don’t believe that Hillary isn’t going to be on the top of the ticket come November. Never get between a Clinton, and something a Clinton wants. I have no love or trust of these people. – Lorica

Even if he didn’t deliberately aim this at Palin (and who are we kidding here, anyway?), it’s obvious that both his supporters and his opponents interpret it that way. It sounds as if the Daley machine is writing his speeches–not good for him.

Last fall “lipstick on a pig” may have been a safe way to ridicule an opponent’s position on a topic. But Sara Palin’s recent association with ‘lipstick’ and ‘hockey mom’ should encourage an experienced change agent to find another metaphor. Either BO deliberately used his old rhetoric to produce media coverage or he failed to realize his old stump speech needed to be updated. Either way, this sound bite may provide more insight into Obama’s character than all the prepared speaches at the DNC.

What is interesting is that BO and JB are now fighting two opponents, John McCain and Sarah Palin, whereas JM and SP are only fighting one, BO. Joe Biden is now basically meaningless.

Right. Why would anybody think in a discussion of Palin and McCain that a reference to “lipstick” had anything to do with Palin and “old” had anything to do with McCain?

And why would anybody think his comment about not knowing how Sarah deals with 5 kids when he and Michelle have their hands full with 2, didn’t have any underlying significance either. LOL

The excuses for this jerk are getting old! His problem is that he thinks he’s really cute and smart and that the rest of us are not — smart, that is.

When did Obama start wearing lipstick??? The only change the Dems believe in is making people a hostage to the Federal Government, it is the same old garbage with different lipstick.

To paraphrase an over used movie line, I love the smell of fear in the morning, it is the smell of victory. BO has seen those poll numbers, that man is desperate, he is watching his dreams and his Father’s dreams vanish before his eyes. How soon before he realizes his only hope is Hillary Clinton?? I think about the 1st week of October it will be found out that Biden has some sort of “sickness” that will force him out of the race?? – Lorica

A good summary I found on another website:

Obama is down 20 points in NC, down 11 points in Montana, down 7 points in Ohio. He’s only up 2 points in PA, onl 1 point ahead in Michigan, 3 points ahead in Wisconsin.

And in Washington State, where he was previously up 16 points, he’s down 12, meaning he’s only up 4 points.

Gallup shows him losing white suburban women by 20 points, moving to McCain, and that Independents are moving to McCain by 19 points, nationally.

Even Chris Matthews described Obama as “listless” and “down” tonight.

He’s imploding.

“Lipstick on a pig” coming directly from Obama’s lips? Drudge reports this came from the candidate who denounces negative campaigning by anonymous and unidentified staffers of the McCain camp. I think one would have to go way back to find any direct quote of a presidential candidate personally attacking an opponent in this fashion.

Sara Palin poked fun at herself with when describing the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull. Obama’s personal attack disguised as an attempt at humor failed big time. Perhaps he is using Letterman’s writers!
If he is having this much trouble with an â€˜inexperienced’ executive how will he deal with the much more experienced executives of rogue nations, terrorists networks, and communist dictators?
