Still no word on when we can go home to Seabrook, Texas, from our evacuation site in Austin. Word is that our half of town took a lot of water, and to expect severe damage. =((

And for the record, my wife, the dog and I evacuated Thursday, when it became a mandatory evacuation.

We are now told there is no water, power, or sewer in town, and that folks coming back early will be arrested if they try to get to their homes.

The Taxpayers of this nation spend billions each year on weather forecasting, storm warnings, storm predictions, not to mention research to improve all of the aformentioned, with the idea of giving Americans in the path of killer storms time to escape. And they sit on their asses and refuse to budge. :-?

Then the taxpayers are expected to spend more money, and risk lives, in rescue operations to save these same individuals who refused to leave. Why? :-w

After Gustav, New Orleans residents who were returning were interviewed, and many said they'd never leave again. And we'll be expected to spend money to rescue them, too. Why? :o

Dammit! If you have the warning and refuse to pay heed, then tough![-(

Sheesh!

Sorry, but I'm all 'Katrina-ed' out on the numbskulls who won't leave a threatened area. I live on the Gulf Coast of Florida. If anything higher than a Category Two is heading my way ... I'm outa here!;)
