If the Electoral College ties at 269-269, then the House of Representatives elects the president, but with this difference: each state gets ONE vote. So California's 53-person delegation has no more clout than Wyoming's single at-large representative. With the Dems having a congressional majority in more states, that favors Obama. The VP is decided in a similar manner by the Senate, but with one difference: each Senator has one vote. Assuming Joe Lieberman crosses party lines and votes for Sarah Palin, we'd have a 50-50 tie. Which means the deciding vote would be cast by...Dick Cheney. So if the EC ends up tied, it's not inconceivable that we could have President Obama and VP Palin.
