I grew up in Detroit during the Coleman Young years. I hated the mixed message, the left-handed complement, that we heard day after day after day there. The message Young gave to the very people he was supposed to be looking out for was that they were unprepared, incompetent and should be wards of the public simply because of the color of their skin. Nonsense. Leg-up-not-hand-out was never a tactic in Coleman Young’s repertoire.

While I admit it’s been almost 20 years since Young’s been out of office, the political machine he started in the Motor City has been perpetuated. Detroit is one of the dirtiest, dangerous cities in this country and most of it is due to the same kinds of policies embraced by the Obama camp.

It makes me angry that even to this day we have ignoramuses, both white and black, that simply can’t shake that crap and get along with each other. And like most people here, my objections to Obama’s platform have less than nothing to do with his skin color. I don’t like the idea of having to break my back at work to pay for someone who doesn’t want to get with the program and support himself or herself. Furthermore, I don’t want to see what happened in my hometown to happen nationwide. That alone is scary as hell.

My wife did vote today and yes she voted for McCain/Palin…

It is not pursuasive to tailgate and make mean/crde gestures. It does Obama harm.

I disagree with T-Steele. Rioters just look for excuses. Win or lose there will be riots. If he wins, expect the flipping cars and burning that you’d see if your team won the world series. If he loses, expect riots like we haven’t seen since the 60’s. The anger a McCain win will cause will be overwhelming.

If Obama wins, expect race relations to worsen dramatically.

I got an email from a reader earlier tonight in response to what I wrote who told me essentially the same thing about how I encouraged and invited the harassment by putting the sticker on my car. Keep in mind that the sticker isn’t nasty, doesn’t say “Obama’s a COMMUNIST!!” or anything of the sort. It simply reads, “NOBAMA.”

The even funnier part was that he told me that I should work to not “offend” people by broadcasting my political beliefs on my car, and not just with a NOBAMA sticker but any sticker, including a McCain-Palin sticker (which I also have). I guess in his view I should just restrict my “offending” political views to online posting – I mean, God help if you want to express yourself in other ways.

I find it somewhat amusing that some of the reactions I’m getting in my email – and at a political forum I post at – have taken the “she asked for the sexual harassment she got at work, because her skirt was too short” attitude. I’m reading that people have a “right to respond” to my bumper stickers. Of course they do. But they don’t have the right be rude jerks by fliping me off and trying to run me off the road.

Hate to say it, but of Obama wins we’re going to have to put up with at least 4 years of leftist hate.

I really worry that a Sen. Messiah Barack victory will only open the floodgates of the grievance community.

I know what you mean, I fear the attitude will be one of “time to get our share of power, money, and revenge.” I’ve noticed that all too often when a minority candidate makes it into office (mayor, governor, etc.) the attitude isn’t one of let me run my administration and office in a way that’s beyond reproach to prove the bigots wrong about my people, it’s time for me to get mine and results in astounding levels of dishonesty, corruption, and outright theft/fraud, beyond even what’s normal for politicians. This does a disservice to those who are honest, but it seems to happen far more often than it should, and reflects the kind of attitude, frankly, that the Rev. Wright espouses. The kind of attitude that the majority has held us back and crapped on us so now we are justified in doing whatever we can get away with. Not a pretty picture.

Oh, and T-Steel, a word of thanks for being about the most level headed, rational, and apparently honorable liberal I’ve encountered online in years. You’re a ray of hope to us conservatives that not all liberals are barking mad.
