I stand by my prediction that McCain-Palin wins Pennsylvania: her rallies there have seen very, very large turnouts, even in rotten weather. And I can’t imagine those people (nor their neighbors in eastern Ohio) have forgotten The One’s “bittergate” comments nor Murtha’s racist/redneck insults. And maybe, just maybe, the implications of Obama’s tax/welfare plan are starting to sink in.

Call me a dreamer , but I’m beginning to wonder if my beloved California is as much of a lock as CW says it should be for Obama. The Democrats have a combined early/absentee ballot submission edge of just 1,000 ballots, and I know there have to be a fair number of angry PUMAs voting McCain in the Democratic ballots. I don’t expect the state to flip Red, but I’d love it if we put a real scare into The One and his followers.

WOW With each and every passing day Sarah impresses me more and more. From Fox News:

Sarah Palin said Thursday she is motivated by voters who underestimate her, she’s not withering under the perceived double standard of sexism on the campaign trail, and she won’t tuck tail and run back to Alaska if she and John McCain lose on Tuesday.

The Republican vice presidential candidate said she thinks she and McCain will win on Election Day, but meanwhile she won’t be cowed by media criticism or claims that she’s unprepared for the job.

Appearing in an excerpt of a 20/20 interview that appeared on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Palin added that she’s not going to give up and “wave a white flag against some of the political shots that we have taken.”

“I am not doing this for naught. We will progress, we will keep going forward, so it is all worth it, not complaining about any of it,” Palin said.

“I truly believe that the wisdom of the people will be rebuilt on [Election Day]. As they enter that voting booth, they will understand the stark contrast between the two tickets,” she said.

Palin said she thinks an “obvious” sexist double standard exists on the campaign trail. She’s been questioned relentlessly about her wardrobe and her ability to serve in office while raising a family, while also being touted as an enviable fashion plate and style maverick.

“But I am not going to complain about that because if my skin isn’t thick enough to take that as a candidate, I should not be even thinking of serving this nation as vice president,” she said.

Palin said that if elected to the vice presidency, she will “probably miss the same things that the male candidates miss when they are not with their children for a day or two. But I have been very thankful in that my kids for the most part are with me and, of course, they are a phone call away, also.”

Palin acknowledged that she depends on a network of support at home, including family members reassuring her that her kids are well.

Over the last week, Palin’s relationship with the McCain campaign has been the focus of intense scrutiny. In various reporting, she has been described as “rogue”; called a “whack job”; accused of alienating everyone on the McCain campaign staff and described as distant even from her family.

Palin insisted none of it is true, and she challenged the unnamed sources to come forward and say it to her face.

“I have never met any of those who I have heard to have written something or say something negative,” Palin said. “I would love to meet these people, have a conversation instead of them superficially making a statement like that. It would be nice if they would take it a step further and at least interview me.”

She added that she is like many “underestimated persons elected to office,” and she is waiting for the chance to prove the pundits wrong.

“It is motivating for me to work that much harder, but I can’t speak to the negative perception that somebody would have because again, when I know who I am and I know the truth and I know my record, it is going to have to be me walking the walk, not just talking the talk,” she said.

I find it very promising for those of us who are Mc-P supporters here in VA. Despite the MSM’s contention that BO will take this state, there are a few factoids here that the rest of the world isn’t likely to hear about.

For example, there was Big Noise made over BO’s rally in Norfolk yesterday which attracted ~8,000 people. Contrast that with Sarah Palin’s rally here in Roanoke on Monday, which attracted ~16,000 of us in an outdoor venue with really crappy weather.

Just so you know, BO’s rally here back in August/September attracted only 4,500 people in an indoor venue, the Roanoke Civic Center…and Sarah’s had to be moved to Salem’s football stadium because it’s the largest facility we have in the area, outside of VA Tech.

See where I’m going with this? He makes a lot of commotion out of attracting what he did in a city with a population of ~240,000 people. We have about that same population spread over 4 counties and a radius of over 50 miles. So you tell me: who did better statistically?

“I haven’t cleared this with him and he may even be mad at me for saying this so close to the election, but I know what else he said to his economic advisers (during the crisis),” Clinton told the crowd at a Wednesday night rally with Obama in Florida. “He said, ‘Tell me what the right thing to do is. What’s the right thing for America? Don’t tell me what’s popular. You tell me what’s right — I’ll figure out how to sell it.‘”

Now I realize, of course, that McCain has his advisers and he consults them too, but don’t you think Slick Willie could have said this a little better? Especially since Americans “trust” Obama more when it comes to the economy.
