What about Murkowski’s seat in 2010? I’d rather Palin stay as Alaska’ governor, but I wouldn’t mind seeing Lisa, as heiress to one of the Old Boys, replaced.

Anthony, Sean Parnell ran in the GOP primary for Alaska’s House seat, but lost to Don Young, another charter member of the “old boy network”. This should clear the way for him to take a shot at Begich in 2014, and I like his chances then.

It is pretty apparent that the “good ol’ boy” network has let us down this year. I have to wonder just how low they will go until they come around to the right way of thinking. I am pretty much fed up with politics right now, and I hope I never have to vote for another moderate again. – Lorica

The Alaska Republicans, not to mention the national Party, should have pushed Stevens out years ago. But then, we still have Arlen Spector, don’t we? Better the mediocre non-entity you can re-elect than a real Republican, right?

I really doubt that 60 is in fact a a magic number here. I have no confidence that Snowe, Collins, Specter, and Voinovich are going to filibuster much. They prize their reputation as “moderates” who don’t want to be seen as “obstructionists” and besides they’re from states that went for Obama…

I can’t be upset about Stevens losing, even with its implications for Senate math; the man had become a disgrace and needed to go. What really bothers me is that (as Sarah would put it) the “old boy network” decided to support him, instead of running a challenger in the primary. (Alaska Lt. Gov. Parnell, for example.) The shortsightedness of the RNC and the RSCC has cost us another seat, which shouldn’t have been lost.
