The first thing that i think about here is Parker’s contention the Republican Party is erring by placing all it’s eggs in the Evangelical basket.

Is she on to something?

Demographics so highlight a problem for Republicans: In many studies about a quarter of voters identified themselves as Evangelical Protestants and about two thirds of evangelicals identify themselves as Republicans.

So, if two thirds of Evangelicals, totaling about 15% of all voters, identify themselves as Republicans and 25% of all voters identify themselves as Republicans, that means Evangelicals represent about 60+% of the Republican Party.

If the Republicans have any hopes of reemerging, and not being known as just the “party of Evangelicals”, they will have to figure out a way to get more moderate voters.

As I see it, she’s on to something.

I stopped taking Parker seriously the day she wrote, “No one gets an abortion for fun.”
93% of all abortions are performed for fun: sex without responsibility. Only 7% (this is an old figure; it may have changed) are performed for ANY other reason–rape, incest or medical reasons.

Parker is a bad joke on all of us.

To me the most obnoxious aspect of Parker’s ultra-cute “Dowd Lite” is the nasty bigotry she directs at people of faith.

No, not “people of faith,” just Christians. She isn’t being outspoken, bravely addressing the dangerous truth, she’s being a nasty sneering Eastern Establishment elitist taking a shot at Jesusland. That kind of crap we absolutely don’t need in the party, so she can go pound sand.

Leave the viciousness to the Kos Kids.

One thing I thought most conservative women would agree on is solidarity in sisterhood. Parker broke ranks. Not a good move on her part. We’ll survive without her, but will she without us?

I’m loved Jonah Goldberg right now. Talk about someone ’saying what needs to be said’! Your take on what turned this election is spot on. Many factors played into the Obama win, but it wasn’t because the GOP was too conservative.

Kathleen Parker doesn’t need to switch parties, she needs to just stop writing for awhile. She’s gotten plain weird. Your point about Obama supporters voting against gay and lesbian marriage is spot on, ST. You don’t have to be religious to be against gay and lesbian marriage. You can feel that marriage is between a man and woman. Plain and simple. With no religion attached.

I’m an agnostic. But I never EVER disrespect those of faith. Because I’ve seen how deep that faith goes. And to disrespect that is just terrible.

Those on the left that are “loving them some K-Parker” because of her recent screed are showing their disrespect of those of faith. ‘Nuff said.

Excellent post, i find myself sitting here shaking my head in agreement with you as i read this. Seems Ms. Parker needs to switch parties
