Monday open thread

Got a busy Monday morning ahead of me as per the norm – hope to be back this afternoon or early evening.

Here are a few links for you:

—- The liberal gay community is still in a lather over Barack Obama’s decision to invite Pastor Rick Warren to deliver the invocation at his inauguration. You’d think the fact that he’s including a gay pastor on his list of inauguration speakers, and the fact that – other than gay marriage – Obama has been a staunch ally to the gay community, would lessen the anxiety they feel over the inclusion of Warren in the inauguration ceremony. I guess those facts are inconvenient little creatures, eh?

—- The mediots are still salivating over the shoe-throwing Iraqi “journalist.” Go figure.

—- Must-read from Ed Morrissey: Blago-Rahma: The limits of transparency (in an Obama administration).

—- Last but not least, make sure to vote for yours truly in GayPatriot’s Grande Conservative Blogresss Diva 2009 contest. The competition is fierce, but in the end it’s all about fun – and being included among such esteemed female bloggers. The voting ends at 5 PM ET on New Year’s Eve.

For those of you wondering about when the announcement will be for the finalists in the 2008 Weblog Awards, they’ve had to push things back a bit and revise the schedule:

Finalist Announced – December 25

Finalist Logos Available – December 25

Finalist Voting Page Available* – December 29

Finalist Voting – January 2 through January 10

Stay tuned …

Our friends on the left — specifically a leftist site on my blogroll to which you don’t like to link — are all upset about the invitation to Rick Warren, but it’s because they didn’t listen.

We on the right were worried that Barack Hussein Obama was a far-left whacko, who was only saying moderate things to try to win a few votes from tyhe middle. Well, it turns out that our friends on the left thought exactly the same thing; they thought that Mr Obama was deliberately lying to everybody, to win the election. So, when he said that yes, he favored some form of civil unions — pretty much the position President Bush has taken — but opposed same-sex marriage, they didn’t believe him, they thought it was all a lie ;) — insert wink icon here — to fool us bitter folks clinging to God and guns.

Then, sha-zamm! it turns out that Mr Obama was actually telling the truth on that particular issue, and they feel that they’ve been betrayed.

If they were betrayed, then they betrayed themselves.

So did I. In the spirit of Chicago-style voting that is the new American standard, I voted twice. So far. :d

They beat the attempted murder rap, mainly because their plot fell apart before they could actually execute it. That means the usual leftist crowd (ACLU and the like) should be harping about how this is evidence of islamophobia and a setup by the eeevil Bushitler regime in about…well, probably by the time you read this.

Me, I think life in solitary confinement isn’t severe enough for them.

    One poll from Rasmussen:

49% disapprove of the auto bailout, while 38% approve.

    And now one from CNN:

63% support the auto bailout, while 37% disapprove.

Given the well-known track records of both organizations, which one do you think is telling the truth? To the best of my knowledge, Rasmussen has not yet caught “bailout fever” like the government-run media has.

Obama’s choice for CIA forced to withdraw.

And it was not the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy (TM) that sunk John Brennan, although the government-run media will imply that it was. It was the left-wing hate blogs that did him in.
