ST notes:

<blockquote>Barack Obama spent that interview apologizing for the last 20+ years of America’s relationship with the Muslim world</blockquote>

This is the part that infuriates me most. No nation on earth has sacrificed more treasure and blood to help Muslims around the world. America has nothing to apologize for.

Look at where America has intervened to free or rescue Muslims, often battling Christians to do it: Bosnia, Kosovo, Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan. To that list we can add the ill-fated mission to Somalia in the early 1990s, and repeated attempts to broker a "peace process" to save the Palestinians from their own stupidity. And when the Christmas Eve tsunamis wiped out Muslim towns in Indonesia a few years ago, who rushed in to help? Not wealthy Muslim states like Saudi Arabia. No, that would be evil Crusader nations like the U.S. and Australia.

It's about time we stopped allowing the left to ladle out this "evil anti-Muslim America" horse-hockey without rebuttal. I'd like to see one of our conservative leaders stand up for America and her allies and their role in the world. This leftist orgy of self-hate - in this and so many other areas - will ruin us all if we don't confront it, and soon.

I'm still not sure where everybody got the idea that Obama is so intelligent. What proof do we have? No grades from school, no papers written, nothing that shows his intelligence is any greater than other lawyers. He reads prepared speeches well. He did not write them himself. His books have been suspected of being ghost written by our favorite guy, William Ayers. I just don't see much above average intelligence coming through.

The thing that worries me most about an Obama presidency...beyond the economic state of America and his plans...would be how he deals with the Middle East during this particularly sensitive time. Iraq is about to be on its own without foreign military forces and Israel is still embroiled with the Palestinians. I worry that Obama will screw it up so badly that he will ruin any accomplishments we've made there in the last 3 to 4 years. I also worry about what other attacks he will bring upon us because of his weakness in this interview...Iran has already made it clear that they believe in the weakness of Obama/America. This does not bode well for any terrorists who may be looking for an opening.

The next 12 months will not be easy. I worry for our country. I worry for our soldiers. But all I can do now is hold my breath.

Great post, hit the nail on the head. Obamas view is certainly naive, but apparently he is seeing SOME things differently now that HE is in the White House.

<a href="http://www.latimes.com/news/la-na-rendition1-2009feb01,0,7548176,full.story" rel="nofollow">Obama preserves renditions as counter-terrorism tool</a>

<blockquote>Under executive orders issued by Obama recently, the CIA still has authority to carry out what are known as renditions, secret abductions and transfers of prisoners to countries that cooperate with the United States.
</blockquote>

Remember the blood curdling howls from the left over this program?!?! The protests? The shouts of "fascists"!!!

Obama even has the human rights people snowed.

<blockquote>The decision to preserve the program did not draw major protests, even among human rights groups. Leaders of such organizations attribute that to a sense that nations need certain tools to combat terrorism.</blockquote>

<blockquote>"Under limited circumstances, there is a legitimate place" for renditions, said Tom Malinowski, the Washington advocacy director for Human Rights Watch. "What I heard loud and clear from the president's order was that they want to design a system that doesn't result in people being sent to foreign dungeons to be tortured -- but that designing that system is going to take some time."</blockquote>

I cannot believe what is happening to this country and this world. The left's hypocrisy knows no bounds.

Just this morning I read where Hamas is at it again, sending rockets into Israel's civilian population. Israel stated if this continues, Israel will respond with air attacks. Hamas then stated..."see, Israel is not interested in peace talks, they only want to harm and kill our children".

How in God's name do you deal with complete whack jobs like Hamas?....You bomb them into the 6th century.

Very well put. But as we know also, we live in a perpetual present. Gitmo will be closed, and all will be right with the world apparently.

Until we discover that nothing's substantively changed, other than that we don't have Gitmo to use to incarcerate newly captured "stateless" jihadists. Where do those who fall into America's diabolical clutches during President Obama's upcoming blitzkrieg in Afghanistan go? Into foreclosed homes in Republican congressional districts?

Yours truly also recalls, having seen as a 14 year old student in late 1979, in response to our embassy being overrun, the staff taken captive and threatened with death, someone having spray painted in frustration "Nuke Iran" on the side of my junior high school. Surely an indication of the warmth of American relations with that so-called "Muslim world" 30 years ago. And what will happen in the U.S. this November 4? Will that anniversary prompt Americans to take to the streets in their millions, chanting "Death to Iran" and burning Khomeini photos?

Unlikely. However, one suspects we will see lots of American flags burnt in Tehran that day. Yet President Obama thinks we have much to apologize for. Astounding.
