Gov. Palin smacks down Ashley Judd

Get her, gal!

(CNN) – Alaska governor Sarah Palin’s support for aerial wolf-hunting has sparked a heated cross-country war of words between the governor and an environmental ad campaign fronted by the actress Ashley Judd, with Palin calling the organization funding the ads an “extreme fringe group.”

The squabble began Tuesday when the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund unveiled a campaign called “Eye on Palin,” targeting the governor for what they call her “extreme anti-conservation policies.”

The group is highlighting “Palin’s championing of the brutal and unnecessary aerial killing of wolves and other carnivores” — a controversial practice allowed by permit in Alaska since 2003, with the goal of protecting populations of moose and caribou.

Judd, who has in the past lent her voice to AIDS prevention and reproductive health campaigns, signed on with the group and is featured in a YouTube video. “It is time to stop Sarah Palin, and stop this senseless savagery,” she says in the clip.

Palin struck back in a statement Tuesday night, calling the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund a fringe group that “distorts” the goal of Alaska’s predator control programs.

“Alaskans depend on wildlife for food and cultural practices which can’t be sustained when predators are allowed to decimate moose and caribou populations,” Palin said in the statement.

She added: “Shame on the Defenders of Wildlife for twisting the truth in an effort to raise funds from innocent and hard-pressed Americans struggling with these rough economic times.”

Maybe the tagline in all of Ms. “It’s so nice to live in America again“‘s “pro-wolf” advocacy videos should say/read something like “save the wolves, but kill the babies,” eh? 8-|

Another Hollywood idiot who has never worked a day in her life arguing from ignorance. Palin proves that someone has sense now.

Let’s not forget that the Palin program of wolf hunting actually works, and has helped restore populations of caribou. See, for example, this piece from HotAir.

So what does Ashley Judd have against caribou? And why do wolves matter more than humans to her?

  3. Patricia says:

    I’m for the wolves

    :-w

Another idiot liberal actress who enjoys misleading the American public.

    Kentucky Wildcats suck!

I don’t think it’s that, so much as she simply isn’t thinking. Animal-rights people like Judd never go the next step and wonder what happens if we let the wolf population grow out of control: they just stop with weeping over cute wolves killed by mean humans. It never occurs to them that “conservation” entails intelligent management of wildlife populations, which at times means culling.

And that, of course, conflicts with their Disney view of wildlife. /:)

Ashley, You are a mediocre actress with a great bod. But as far as you being the voice for the wolf population in Alaska, stick to what you know. Wildcats Suck!!!

  7. Matt says:

To clarify my previous comment, I don’t agree with this ad campaign. It’s miss leading and leaves out important conservation points that need to be addressed. (Besides it’s unnecessarily aggressive in it’s attacks. It’s sad that they have to attack one person for supporting the work of many conversationalists.)

However, I believe America (and people in general) are better than this.

  8. Tye says:

So let me get this straight. As humans we take the land away from all the animals and ruin the natural balance they had before we overpopulated everyplace. So when we try to restore the balance it’s a problem. Maybe she should see photos of animals starving to death when they eat all the available resources. That’s a much more compassionate treatment of the animals. I’d like to see her sit down with the outfitters that make a living taking people on hunts for moose and caribou and explain to them that the wolves are worth more than their livelyhood.

  9. NC Cop says:

Can’t we ship all of the wolves in Alaska to Judd’s house? If she’s so concerned about them, she can take care of them.

I’d also kick in $10 for a bottle of barbecue sauce for Judd to bathe in.

    :d

  10. PO says:

I am so tired of hypocritical celebrities like Ashley Judd who has the nerve to talk about slaughter of wildlife but will not talk about a more important issue of slaughter of innocent life. ABORTION! And this is why I admire Gov. Palin who is against this. Furthermore, she has the nerve to attack her. Judd needs to go back to doing what she does best–mediocre acting.

  11. forest hunter says:

I’m with you Patricia, cuz if you’ve ever been witness to what a wolf will do, you wouldn’t open your pie hole.

The real issue is management of the * ENTIRE forest.* Pick and choose, if you must, but don’t leave reality behind……..m’kay.

  12. Traffic Cop Timmy says:

Predator control has been part of life for thousands of years.

Judd has just signed onto a popular subject in which everyone in Hollywood agrees. Popular, safe, gets some good press. It’s a win-win for her.

How about a stance against sex trafficking, Ashley? Now there’s a predator issue that could use your attention.

  13. Corrie says:

NC Cop: Couldn’t agree more. Let’s ship the wolves to Ashley. If she doesn’t like that, I’m sure she will be willing to give HER (not taxpayer) money to those families who can no longer eat because they can’t hunt caribou.

  14. Lorica says:

Just more BS trying to make Sarah look like she is a horrible person. How many Inuit babies must starve, because someone with a posh elitist lifestyle, who is totally clueless what it takes to survive in the true wilderness of Alaska has to open her flap??

I use to like Ashley Judd, but I won’t go see her movies what so ever. Why waste my time and money making the clueless rich?? Yeah I know, I don’t go to alot of movies these days. – Lorica

And if you put a video of that up on your web site, you’ll get several million hits in a day or two. :d

“And if you put a video of that up on your web site, you’ll get several million hits in a day or two. :d

    LOL!!!!

Hey, maybe I could convince her to do it to raise money for a “Save the Wolves” foundation. Hmmmmm, sounds like a plan.

  17. Brontëfan says:

Just another Hollywood liberal trying to trash Governor Palin –any way they can. They must really be afraid of Sarah. Go GIRL!
Between the Hollywood agenda in films and the bogus documentaries being peddled, I don’t see films anymore nor do I purchase them. :(

  18. M. Faulkner says:

I never like Judd’s movies. She can’t act. Now she’s just a washed out ‘squeegee-eyed possum faced’ old woman looking for free press. And her farts stink like everyone else’s….so there.
