Say what you want about Senator Lindsey Graham. Though he’s irritated most of us more often than not, the stimulus bill is one area where most of us can agree with him wholeheartedly. Here he is on Shep Smith’s Studio B show on Fox earlier this afternoon, going off on Obama and the Democrats in the House and Senate who have larded up this bill with billions in spending that won’t create a single job:
This is in addition to the blistering criticism he had for Obama just a few days ago in which he called the President’s leadership on the stimulus bill “AWOL.”
Fox News has posted a “Find the Bacon” page, encouraging readers to sift through the House and Senate versions of the stimulus bill to, well, find the bacon. Email what you find to this address: email@example.com and they may publish your response at a later date.
Update – 10:23 PM: The video is working fine in Firefox but I’m having problems viewing it in IE. It’s Fox News issue, not one with the blog … hopefully it will be resolved shortly.
Rep. Heath Shuler (D-N.C) has further ingratiated himself with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi — not — by declaring that Pelosi and Harry Reid “failed” the bipartisanship test on stimulus.
“In order for us to get the confidence of America, it has to be done in a bipartisan way,” Shuler said in Raleigh following an economic forum, according to the AP.
“We have to have everyone — Democrats and Republicans standing on the stage with the administration — saying, ‘We got something done that was efficient, stimulative and timely.'”
Here’s the kicker: “I truly feel that’s where maybe House leadership and Senate leadership have really failed.”
The article went on to note that Shuler was one of the 11 House Dems who voted against the stimulus package. Needless to say, none of this will endear him to The One, who I suspect would call Shuler’s stance “unpatriotic.”
Considering Shuler’s a Blue Dog Democrat, none of this news is exactly surprising, but all the same I’ll give credit where it is due. It takes guts to be a virtual newbie to the House (2 years) and stand against your party’s “leadership” at a time when they’re trying to put on a united front.
If NC’s going to have Democrats in the House and Senate, I’d prefer that they be more like Shuler and less like the embarrassing Mel Watt (my Congressional “rep”).
For the latest news on the back and forth drama over the stimulus package – including what’s been added, what’s hidden within, etc, Michelle Malkin’s got it covered.

… you’re in the middle of your first big test as President of these 57 states, with Senators and House reps from both parties duking it out over more tax cuts and big spending items in the stimulus bill you’ve said must pass in order to avoid certain catastrophe.
What are you doing next?
(With apologies to the Walt Disney Company for the lame attempt at pseudo-humor)
President Obama will be holding a televised presser tonight at 8pm ET.
