Setting the record straight

On Friday, I linked up to a photo Jason Smith had posted of a Borders book store in Dallas, TX that had set up a shrine of sorts to our nation’s 44th President. The photo was linked to by several bloggers as evidence of the over-the-top nature of many Obama supporters, including some of those who work at bookstores.

That same day, other (mostly liberal) bloggers were speculating that the picture was Photoshopped. There was similar speculation in the thread I started on it here.

Just to set the record straight on whether or not the the picture was “doctored” in any way: It wasn’t. Not that we needed this particular piece of evidence to point out how the devotion to President Obama from some quarters borders (no pun intended) on obsessive, of course.

Related to book store Obama hero worship: The paper this past Sunday had an advertisement in it for Books A Million, and they had a promo on the front of the flyer that indicated they were having a “President’s Day sale” of sorts. Who was the featured President?

Yeah, you guessed it.

Because the day might as well have been created specifically for him, you know.
