No, Gitmo didn’t “make” him do it

The Washington Post published an article over the weekend strongly implying that Abdallah al-Ajmi, a terrorist released from Gitmo, only became a ‘hardcore’ terrorist after he was released in 2006 because his treatment at Gitmo made him hate America enough to blow up an Iraqi Army outpost in March 2008.

Patterico has a very detailed dissection of the article here. Make sure to read the whole thing because, as he notes, it’s not until you dig into the article quite a bit that you learn that his treatment at Gitmo is not what caused him to despise this country. He hated it before he was ever taken to Gitmo.
