Kruggie to Fibbs:
"Rudeness at the proper moment can serve a purpose — as I hope I’ve demonstrated over the years. But if you vent for the sake of venting; if you alienate people you’re going to need; then you’re just being stupid."
-Paul Krugman, NYT columnist & Nobel prize winner - 8/11/10
When the adults start taking charge in the WH, will someone please let me know?
At the earliest, that would be January 20, 2013.
But all is not lost. From your link:
In fact it is so outrageous that even Sen Patty Murray (D WA) has said it is dead on arrival…as Liberal and wacko as she is, even she sees this as a bad thing.
Probably, what passed for thinking here was that if you have non-government health insurance it should pay for everything.
Which is pure fantasy. Not only are at least some of those policies less expensive because the insurers knew some things would be paid by military insurance, but most policies exclude a host of “pre-existing” conditions – regardless of origin.
As with the proposal to tax an employer’s contribution to insurance as an individual’s income – blasted during the 2008 campaigns but now OK, especially as McCain’s “but offset with a deduction” has been dropped – this is probably a step on the road to government-only health care as done in the UK, rather than government-plus-private as in France.

Hopefully she (Sen Murray) will stick to her guns. I don’t have a lot of faith in her, and it galls me to have to show her any gratitude…
I’m still hoping and praying for a military coup.

(*phew*) Looks like — at least for now — they’ve backed off:

Why do I get the sneaking suspicion someone’s just waiting until we turn our attention somewhere else for the moment?
