The funny thing? He didn’t realize what he was admitting:
Transcript of the (literal) money quote:
[Senator Tom Carper, D-DE] I’ll tell you — if someone negotiated a deal with me and I agreed to put up say, 80 dollars or 80 million dollars or 80 billion dollars and then you came back and said to me a couple of weeks later — no no, I know you agreed to do 80 billion and I know you were willing to help support through an advertising campaign this particular — not even this particular bill, just the idea of generic health care reform? No, we’re going to double — we’re going to double what you agreed in those negotiations to do. That’s not the way — that’s not what I consider treating people the way I’d want to be treated.
What was that Obama said as a candidate about, as President he wouldn’t engage in the “same ol’ Washington tricks”? Umm … this is CHANGE YOU CAN BELIEVE IN! ![]()
Shall we hold our collective breath waiting on the MSM to relentlessly pursue the facts surrounding this backroom deal? Better not …
Not a good last couple of weeks for the WH – still no deal on ObamaCare, the ACORN scandal is exploding, they were exposed this week for cutting a similar deal with the NEA that they apparently did with Big Pharma, our President gets shown up at the UN twice: Once by Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper – not actually at the UN but making a statement on behalf of the Canadian delegates there, and the other time by Czech Republic President Václav Klaus, and now Carper exposes the deal with Big Pharma.
Impressive, but not in the way the administration hoped any of it would be.

What? They’re still doing the D.C. two-step just like every other admin has for decades? Well, blow me down with a feather! Whooda thunk?
And to think, these are the squeaky-clean Chicago-machine thugs. One would think they’d be a little less conspicuous about it, but hey, when you’re a thug and king of the hill I guess ya just don’t give a rat’s patootie about it.
IOW, business as usual…
You can’t say it plainer than that…MSM??? I am with you Sister, we won’t hear a peep from the chick littles of the MSM…they are too busy coming down from their latest high mucky muck speech at the UN.
But I am just trying to imagine if the Bush haters have any idea what they voted for….if they haven’t figured it out by now, there is no HOPE for them. Of course they are all too busy holding their noses, covering their eyes and plugging their ears.
There will be a CHANGE and you can BELIEVE it won’t be pretty.
NO HEALTHCARE REFORM WITHOUT TORT REFORM!!! That should be the mantra of every Republican. The days of believing you should be rich at the expense of the end user is over. The days of “God bless American, the land of the lawsuit” need to end. If we got had tort reform, and stopped giving illegal aliens the billions of dollars in aid, then we would have more reasonable healthcare costs. – Lorica
But Lorica, those are two parts of the health care reform conservatives are after. We don’t accept that a government takeover of the existing system without reform to the system is in fact “reform”, as the Obamabots insist.
I know Carlos.
