The AP’s nauseating puff piece on Jimmy Carter

From the Department of “You Cannot Be Serious”:

Nearly three decades have passed since Carter left office. He is 85 years old. Yet here he is, in a torrid, desolate corner of the world pushing two reluctant Caribbean neighbors to fight malaria, a disease that’s long been eradicated from richer countries.

And he is smiling, because this is what he does. Since leaving the White House, he’s logged millions of miles and visited dozens of countries on missions to wipe out diseases, mediate conflicts, advocate for human rights and monitor elections. He’s built a legacy that few, if any, American ex-presidents can match.

Considering Carter’s “legacy” of failure and anti-US actions (more here), let’s pray that indeed no ex-president will ever “match” him. And pray as well that our current President never matches him either, although as each day goes by you have to wonder whether or not he already has.

Mike Bates at Newsbusters reminds us of this timely quote:

The late New York Democratic Senator Patrick Moynihan had Carter’s number in 1980: “Being unable to distinguish between our friends and our enemies, Carter has adopted our enemies’ view of the world.”

Which is why he should have never been elected President, let alone viewed as a “statesman” post-presidency. He is anything but.

Carter and Arafat

Is this the face of a respectable statesman?
I think not.

I used to rank Jimmy Carter as one of the best “ex-Presidents” but as of recent years, he has screwed that up too.

  2. Kate says:

Pray tell how was he ever the “best” of anything? He was the party choice because he could be manipulated by the party once in office…much like Obama.

And a mea culpa here…when he ran I had just turned 18 and was a registered democrat….I actually voted for the jerk! Talk about being young and stupid! But, then I only knew what my democratic parents told me and what I heard from the news media. Few choices in those days!

Live and learn! A Nobel Peace Prize winner given for something that really never lasted for more than for the photo op.

As I’ve said before, it’s not that they say these ridiculously idiotic things, but they actually believe them.

Maybe the prevalence of malaria in these countries has something to do with the suppression of DDT, as engineered by Carter’s environmentalist friends.

Up until Jan. 20, 2009, I would have thought Carter at the best at denigrating his own country.

Now, I think it will be a head-to-head competition who can dis the good ol’ U.S. of A the most, Jimmuh or Duh-1.

Let’s hope that we have no more ex-presidents running around the world backslapping, high-fiving and sympathizing with dictators, despots and terrorists. This man is a humiliating disgrace.

  7. Frank says:

Among other stupid actions by this peanut farmer, Jimmuh gave us our current Iran regime by turning his back on the Shah, who was our friend. He thought the Shah was too rough on his people. Well, duhhhhh.

  8. John says:

Let us not forget that after he was criticized by the press for destroying the military, he tried to save face by revealing the most top secret project we had, the Stealth Fighter. The next sound you heared was the Intel community saying “I can’t believe he said that”.

  9. Carlos says:

The reality, Frank, had nothing to do with the theoretical badness of the Shah in Jimmuh’s mind. Just like reality has nothing to do with anything liberal.

  10. Carol says:

Obama will go down in history as worse than Carter after a few suicide bombers do their dirty deeds on our soil.

I never thought he could be this bad.

  11. I was on active duty when that worthless peanut farmer was cinc. It sucked. No getting around it. And the maggot was a graduate of The Naval Academy, of all things!
