Ready or not, here it comes:
Barack Obama and his dramatic ascent to power has inspired a raft of books and articles. Now a German musical is set to pay an all-singing, all-dancing tribute to the world’s most powerful man. Hope! will soon premiere in Frankfurt.
Wearing a knitted cardigan and crooning into his microphone, Barack Obama paces around the stage, wooing Michelle with a love song. In another number, now clad in a suit, Jimmie Wilson who plays Obama, struts up and down, clasping his mike and leading a euphoric gospel chorus of “Yes We Can.”
These two scenes are part of an unusual new musical called “Hope!” which is to premiere in Frankfurt on Jan. 17. The production, the biggest of its kind, is an all-singing and all-dancing take on the US president’s victorious campaign in 2008.
“I had the initial idea right at the start of Obama’s electoral campaign,” American writer and composer Randall Hutchins told SPIEGEL ONLINE. “I found the atmosphere exciting and that was my inspiration. People hoped change would result in a better life. It was a beautiful, very social time.”
As well as charting Obama’s political career, the plot follows a group of residents in an apartment-sharing community. There is a politically disillusioned unemployed Puerto Rican, an ultra conservative widow of German origin and a committed African-American political activist.
During the course of the performance, they all become infected by Obama’s message of change. “People from a variety of backgrounds and political camps are united by their hope for a new start,” a press release about the show explains.
“Infected” sounds about right.
Other noteworthy, prominent political figures from the 2008 campaign season are featured in the musical as well, including a McCain impersonator and a “scanitily dressed” version of Gov. Sarah Palin scantily dressed dancers surrounding the Gov. Palin character. Nice to know that American Democrats aren’t the only sexist liberals out there.

Continuing:
Around two thirds of the tickets for the Frankfurt performance have been sold already, event organizers say. And the estimated 2,000 spectators will be in for an active evening. More than half of them will be allocated specially designed seats which incorporate a small drum to play along to the songs. Other audience members will be equipped with shakers.
The show will take place in the Jahrhunderthalle in Frankfurt am Main. Tickets are priced at between €42 and €151 ($60-$216). After Frankfurt, it is set to tour Germany and its organizers are currently in talks about a future US tour.
But despite complaints on the Internet that this is yet another a rose-tinted portrayal of the president, event organizers stressed that Obama is not being idealized by this glittery take on his ascent to power. “In no way does ‘Hope!’ show Obama as a saint,” the press statement said. “This grants us a view behind the scenes of his comet-like rise and also tells of his personal ups and downs.”
“In no way does ‘Hope!’ show Obama as a saint”? Right. Look at these photos from Hope! and watch the below video clip and tell me if you don’t think it “idealizes” BarryO.
I “hope” I never have to watch that video clip again.
The Messiah-like worship of our celebrity President continues.

One more reason to hope Obama loses in 2012. It’ll be fun years from now to look over all this fawning of Obama if he crashes and burns as looks increasingly evident.
Every time the lefties do something like this, every time we see our children in videos being what can only be described as “indoctrinated”, every time we are made aware of journalists ignoring news stories that would put the President in a bad light, they have an opposite effect than what they desired. They, for the most part, are the weak-minded, idealistic, naive, ignorant lemmings that already voted for him. All they’re doing is awakening all the others that either stayed home or voted for Obama because they thought he was something he obviously is not and are getting that “creepy” feeling that many of us already have when watching this stuff take place. Every time I see something like this I get a “tingle” up my leg knowing that these idiots think that this type of propaganda is actually helping him when in fact it is having an opposite effect.
Really, this level of worship is beyond belief.
The man has accomplished NOTHING. And they celebrate his life as if the world were a better place because of it.
This liberal madness is the mental equivalent of zombie invasion. They infest others, who join the throng and try to devour what’s left of common sense and reason from the world.
My nephew told me a good one last weekend, regarding Obama:
“Just what we need, another black guy asking for change“…
Should be subtitled Rocky Horror Picture Show II
the musical hope, should actually be called ,the pretender
Oh, THANKS, ST! Now I gotta bleach my eyes.
Dave, let’s pray it is having the opposite effect. Only a matter of time before it comes to America and is made into a ‘major motion picture.’ He is truly the worst ‘man-made’ disaster we’ve ever experienced and I only hope the damage he is capable of inflicting can be repaired down the road. God help us if it can’t.
these morons are a bunch of vacuous kindygartners !
Sure, I’d pay to see that – as soon as the “Hope” and “Change” are the hope to live in freedom and the change back to a constitutionally-endowed government where the Constitution is actually followed.
Then, and only then, would I waste money on such garbage for the Pig of Pennsylvania Ave.
At one time the people who occupied Pennsylvania Avenue honored the office. This swine really believes he owns it hammerlock, stock and barrel.
Oh great! Just when I thought it was just about time for me to taper off my anti-nausea medication this comes along. Now I’ve had to double my dosage!
Again, why am I not surprised. This seems to be the liberal way of doing things. First they invent an ideal leader. Then they find someone to fill the role. After which their minions in the propaganda squad (once call the liberal media) proclaim a new message in the political arena that everyone should get behind, hide the truth and push him through print media and TV. If successful, they have to keep the image alive and what better method than to idealize and commercialize it! I am sure they were hoping for Sir Andrew Lloyd Weber to do this, but what they got is a second rate German hack…to which I say, HA HA HA! Sir Andrew is holding off on calling Obama his male Evita I guess.
