Whoever made this decision should be taken to international waters and pushed off the boat and told to swim to the destination of their choice. I feel the same way about the poor WWII veteren who was told that he cannot fly his flag over his own home.
Cinco De Mayo is an American “holiday”. Outside of the place the battle happened it is mostly ignored in Mexico. Liberals are so clueless. – Lorica
ANY day it’s OK to wear red white and blue. The school was no doubt trying to keep things calm that day but did they allow Ts with other kinds of messages?
We are quickly losing our identity in this country. What a sad commentary on the state of affairs in America today.
I’ll point out that Morgan Hill is in the “culture zone” of the San Francisco Bay Area, with Santa Cruz to the West; those kids were lucky they weren’t sent to a reeducation camp.
Though the one student claiming they weren’t intending to provoke anyone is full of it. They knew exactly what they were doing when they chose to go as a group in American flag shirts, and I bet they thought it would be funny to annoy “the Mexicans.”
That said, has that school never heard of the 1st amendment? General free-speech principles aside, there have been several SCOTUS cases protecting the use of the US flag in political speech. The students may have been a bit jerky, but the school administration needs a serious civics lesson.
I’m not surprised. There are parts of California, especially around L.A. that have essentially been ceded back to Mexico by the Liberals. I know people from L.A. who say some of their neighborhood schools have had the U.S. flag removed and replaced with the Mexican flag by students and the school administrators refuse to get involved. Won’t be long before they call 911 and have the Federales show up and shake them down for bribes before doing their duty.

In suburban Chicago, where I live, there are areas of high Hispanic concentration. And here is the problem: for the most part these are fine people who just want to get ahead and make their way as best they can for their families. I shop in their establishments. I talk them up etc.
But………the liberal left has sponsored the notion that basic assimilation is not required. So we have schools that TEACH IN SPANISH!!! Not 2 miles from one of the most prosperous, high income areas in the country (where I live)……..we have schools, retail establishments, churches etc that DO NOT SPEAK ENGLISH!!…as a matter of policy. This is not healthy, but in our PC world we cannot speak of it.
Two of my Partners are ginnies, er, uh, well, “of Italian decent.” They speak English. Of course they do. That used to be the standard model.
Today? Where the hexx are we going?!
To follow up on Drew’s point about teaching in Spanish (and to defend my beloved home from yet another round of “You’re All Crazy Out There”
), California voters banned bilingual education (with a few exceptions) in 1998.
See? We’re not all nuts.
*To irritate my Irish friends and husband, I will now wear a ‘Happy St. Pasquale’s Day’ shirt on St. Patrick’s Day*
LOL Zippy!!
