Harry Reid: There are no illegal immigrants working in construction in NV

Ummm:

LAS VEGAS — In this election season, Senator Harry Reid’s campaign events often include claims of how many stimulus funded jobs he’s created. But how many of these construction jobs are going to workers in the country illegally?

E-Verify is a computer program many employers use to determine if job applicants are U.S. citizens. Construction companies are not forced to use the official E-Verify system to determine if construction job applicants are in this country legally.

Republican Senator Jeff Sessions introduced an amendment in 2009 that would have made E-Verify permanent and mandatory for all construction companies. Senator Reid did not allow the idea to come up for a vote.

“The reason: we need to do comprehensive immigration reform. We cannot do it piecemeal,” said Reid.

“When you go to the unemployment office there’s many U.S. citizens who are unemployed construction workers and they don’t have jobs because right now, some of those construction companies find it easier to hire undocumented workers,” said Reporter Nathan Baca.

“I think that any information you have in that regard is absolutely without foundation,” responded Reid.

But a Pew Hispanic Center study shows 17-percent of all construction workers are in the United States illegally. Reid says not in Nevada. “That may be some place, but it’s not here in Nevada.”

But their latest 2009 numbers show Nevada is the state with the highest percentage of “unauthorized immigrants” in the labor force.

Something else I bet you didn’t know: According to Reid, paying income taxes in the United States is “voluntary.”

Hey, Mr. Majority Leader, would you pass the pipe down this way when you’re done with it? :D

“There are no illegal immigrants working in construction in Nevada!”

C’mon Harry this is about as silly as saying that there are no democrats in congress working on behalf of the American people….oh, wait!!!

  2. Yes Harry Reid has been smoking something. The problem is so have all the people who vote for him.

  3. Lorica says:

Poor Harry, he is even taking a hit from people in their obituaries. =))

Between Reid and Pelosi, my data chart shows that on the scale of “Statements Made Based On Reality” the dip into negative territory has passed my Insane qualifier and run off the bottom of the page.

I was afraid of this! The medication his doctors put him on is not working! Looks like we’ll have to go to plan B – the lobotomy!

  6. Zippy says:

Of course they aren’t in Nevada. They’re outside of my corner office in NJ waiting to be picked up for day work. Is there a difference between undocumented day laborers and undocumented construction workers?

    Please clarify. 8-|

This is a deceased parrot!! No he’s not, he’s sleepin’ mate ! 8-|

  8. Carlos says:

Nobody until now has recognized the damage done to his brain in the ring. Obviously it’s more severe than his constituents suspected.

I happen to own a house in Nevada, and have a son who has owned several. Every time we advertise for a contractor to do clean-up and repair on each unit, it seems half of Mexico answers the ad and few of them can speak intelligible English.

I’d like to know what his definition of “illegal immigrant” is. In my book, if they didn’t go through the legal process of entry, that makes them criminal aliens (not “immigrants”), but, hey! Maybe Dingy, as is his wont, pushed through a midnight rider to some bill with a different definition. Who knows?

And as far as taxes being paid voluntarily, all he has to do is point to half of his savior’s appointees/nominees and he can prove that the only time taxes aren’t voluntary is when one is up for the nomination/appointment!

If he spent any time in Nevada he might have a clue.

Like how many people don’t want him to be re-elected:

….I live in Vega$. Not even Pinky Reid can be this stupid! Un-freakin’ believable! To think this is what passes for the Senate Majority Leader… 8-|

  11. Jo says:

Do they now think that if they say something, we all go, “Oh! Wait a minute! What have I been thinking all this time? Harry Reid says there are NO ILLEGAL workers in Nevada so I HAVE BEEN WRONG!!!! My bad. He’s right. Everyone knows Democrat leaders are ALWAYS right and always speak the absolute truth so my bad. My bad.”

  12. Tom TB says:

Straight out of Orwell; “illegal=undocumented” Illegal aliens who have been apprehended, fingerprinted and deported and return illegally are now documented, and are therefore no longer illegal!

  13. Carlos says:

Dingy is just hoping that, come next January, his sucking up to the half of Mexico already in the United States will pay off and he won’t have to join the unemployment lines incredibly long due to jackass policies (or the lack thereof).

And, of course, if he should win, there’s no way Mr. “Only-Whites-Are-Racists” Holder will determine that, in spite of the fact 200,000 more people voted in the election than were registered, nothing untoward happened.

OK, Administration. Time to stop this joke on the American people because it’s less funny every day.
