Breaking: Counterterrorism operation in Georgia?

Something’s going on just west of Atlanta:

A team of federal agents stopped tractor-trailers on Interstate 20 just west of Atlanta, inspecting each truck as it passed through a weigh station, and Channel 2 has learned its part of a counter-terrorism operation.

A TSA spokesman told Channel 2 the event is known as Visible Inter-mobile Prevention and Response, or VIPER, an operation that is conducted with local authorities as a training exercise. The TSA spokesman said the operation is not in response to a specific threat.

However, federal sources told Channel 2 investigative reporter Mark Winne the inspections are part of a counter-terrorism operation.

News Chopper 2 showed screening devices, dogs and a large drive-through bomb detection machine in use along the eastbound interstate near Lee Road.

It could just be an exercise, but given the recent news out of Europe and the increased American drone-strikes in Pakistan, one has to wonder if this is connected. I’ll update if any more news comes out.

If the terrorists are going to blow up or poison a or some major city(ies), please, please make it the bay area and LA! It would rid this country of so much dirt, garbage, evil and just plain stupidity that I’m sure all those folks would be willing to make such a sacrifice for the country. After all, it’s the good of the whole that is more important than the good of the individual, right? That’s what I keep hearing from all my leftist/statist friends.

Everyone calm down, now! Remember, our POTUS said that we can absorb another 911-esque terrorist attack so nothing to be concerned about here–move along. And the fact that I am in SC near both I-85 and I-26 does and just above the state of Georgia does not concern me in the least because my Dear Leader has said in essence that I and my loved ones are expendable in the greater picture (as you say, Carlos, “good of the whole”). So, no worries and no need to take any preventative actions or show some balls.
