Transparently transparent administration closes another transparency meeting to the press

Just now catching up on some stories I missed the last couple of days and came across this non-shocker from yesterday:

Possibly the most important event of the vice president’s day Tuesday is to meet at 2:15 with Earl Devaney. Everyone knows him as chairman of the Recovery Accountability and Transparency Board — the top guy monitoring the gazillion-dollar stimulus and the overdue economic recovery, and ensuring that the taxpayers financing same know all about it.

However, no one outside the room will know what goes on in that Biden-Devaney meeting. That’s because the government meeting on government transparency has been closed.

This reminds me of the time early on in the administration when President Obama won the “Newsmaker of the Year” award from the National Newspaper Publishers Association. The press-bestowed award was presented to him at an official WH ceremony by the “federation of black community newspapers.”

The event was closed to the press.

It also reminds me of how, last summer, the administration essentially claimed it wasn’t secrecy when they held closed-door meetings with healthcare executives to talk about ideas for the ObamaCare bill.

It also reminds me of … well, you get the point.

When it comes to lies and the lying politicians who tell them, this administration is going out of its way to set the gold standard, that’s for sure.
