Photos/video: George & Laura Bush sign books in Charlotte – Rev. Graham makes appearance

As you can imagine, the local news networks/papers were all over the story of former President Bush and Laura Bush being in town at the Rev. Billy Graham Library to sign copies of their books to people who had camped out Friday night to get a wristband Saturday, and who camped out last night to get a good spot in line today. Reportedly there were around 1,000 people waiting in line to meet them (you can view photos here of the long lines and traffic), and many of those who stood in line got the rare chance to briefly see the Rev. Graham himself. Graham, 92, doesn’t make many public appearances these days due to health issues.

Local TV station WBTV filed this report:

Here’s a nice photo taken by WCNC’s Amy Lehtonen:

All in all, it looks and sounds like the former First Couple had a nice visit to Charlotte, and thrilled a lot of people, many of whom traveled a long way for the chance to meet them both, and who got the special treat of catching a glimpse of the Rev. Graham. God bless this wonderful man in the twilight of his life. We sure do love him around here in Charlotte (the place of his birth) – as does the rest of the world.

Wait, they were in Charlotte, but no visit to Casa Toldjah? Hmmm… Must’ve been kept hush-hush to keep ST HQ out of the media. b-)

My religion is somewhat different than Billy’s. Never have I thought him less than a first class man of God, differences or no.

I had many disagreements with George W. Bush. Never have I thought of him as a low class clown, unlike some in politics. And Laura? She is the second best wife in all of Texas, my Linda Lou is the best. Those three in the same room at the same time. Super high class with a big dab of awesome sauce!

I am certain that President Bush will be looked upon, by We the People, in a greatly favorable light. Unlike the present occupant. His poll numbers are going down and getting lower, which only shows that people are tired of his phoniness. – Lorica

Indeed, Lorica. I hate that I didn’t know about his visit until the day of or I would have been one of those camping out. I’m getting his book for Christmas and I can’t wait to start reading it.
