Why does Justin Bieber hate women?

Never thought I’d see the day when I wrote about mega-pop star Justin Bieber on this blog, but he made some comments in the newest edition of Rolling Stone (available Friday) on abortion and casual sex that I think are worth mentioning. Entertainment Tonight reports:

I’m not sure about the [political] parties,” the teen heartthrob admitted to Rolling Stone magazine when asked if he supports the Republicans or Democrats. “But whatever they have in Korea, that’s bad.”

Justin hasn’t picked a political party but he is pro-life, telling the magazine, “I really don’t believe in abortion. … It’s like killing a baby?” When asked how he feels about the procedure when it comes to victims of rape, he responded, “Um. Well, I think that’s really sad, but everything happens for a reason. I guess I haven’t been in that position, so I wouldn’t be able to judge that.”

In addition to his pro-life views, Justin also shared some conservative views when it came to the subject of sex. “I don’t think you should have sex with anyone unless you love them. … I think you should just wait for the person you’re … in love with.” The pop star is rumored to be dating 18-year-old Selena Gomez.

Now some people would read this and go “Who cares? He’s a 16 year-old sugary sweet pop-star with a gazillion teenage girls for fans – why should anyone care what he thinks?”

Well, that’s exactly why his comments are a big deal. Those impressionable teenage girls hang on to every word he says, every move he makes. As I’ve written before, for better or worse our culture plays a big influence on what young people grow up believing. Even though parents do their best to try and educate their kids on what’s right and what’s wrong, they’re still exposed to outside cultural influences that shape their belief system. From a May 2010 piece I wrote on attitudes towards casual sex:

I’ve said it a thousand times before and I’ll say it again: Whether or not we like it, Hollywood plays a signficant role in our culture and holds a great deal of influence over many young people. In spite of the disastrous aftermath of the “free love” movement and the government’s gross enabling of a responsibility-free society back in the late 60s, just imagine what our culture would be like if young and old Hollywood alike – instead of preaching the message that casual sex … and sex-related “activities” … should remain acceptable to young folks (and for that matter, adults, too) – made more movies about young adults being responsible with their bodies, not having them jump into bed with someone right after the first kiss? What if Hollywood, instead of cutting PSAs about condom usage, instead cut PSAs about “just saying no” to sex? No, this wouldn’t change everything, but it would send a strong signal that it was not “cool” to be such a free spirit with your body, and perhaps the “if it feels good, do it” mentality would slowly start to exit stage left.

Not only do I think that Hollywood emphasizing “just say no” to casual sex attitudes would have a positive influence on young adults, but just think about how nuts it would drive the pro-free love, radical liberal feminists who still act as though “womyn” are being forced to say in the kitchen barefoot and pregnant, without any say so in their own lives, and without any “sexual freedom.” Such a campaign would drive the feministas crazy ;)

Needless to say, this also holds true on the issue of young people being influenced one way or the other on abortion. From what I’ve seen, the tide is slowly turning.  Little by little you see pro-life/abstinence messages in movies, TV shows, etc.  It’s not often, but it’s happening more than it used to.   We also saw it with the Jonas Brothers’ abstinence vow in 2008.  And having a huge teene star like Justin Bieber advocate a pro-life position, in addition to suggesting it’s best to wait to have sex, is a positive development in the war for the hearts and minds of young people.

On the other hand, let’s hope his fans are not influenced by his other viewpoints. Bieber – a Canadian – believes in CanadaCare and sounds like a peacenik when he talks about war.  Maybe those liberal positions will smooth a bit the ruffled feathers of the liberal fembots who believe that anyone, man or woman, who is pro-life “hates women.”  Or maybe not – considering  this clueless pro-abortion columnist at the Washington Post who praised Beiber’s position on CanadaCare but then turned around and not so subtly insinuated that Bieber might have something in common with ‘pro-rape‘ Republicans who supposedly want to make it legal to murder abortion doctors.

Poor Justin. He has no idea what he’s gotten himself into.

Lara Logan attacked because she was “Jewish”

In a follow up to yesterday’s nauseating story, we see two themes that are central to Islam: contempt for women and hatred of Jews. Tragically for Lara Logan, they came to a focus in her. From The New York Post:

“60 Minutes” correspondent Lara Logan was repeatedly sexually assaulted by thugs yelling, “Jew! Jew!” as she covered the chaotic fall of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in Cairo’s main square Friday, CBS and sources said yesterday.

The TV crew with Logan, who is also the network’s chief foreign correspondent, had its cameras rolling moments before she was dragged off — and caught her on tape looking tense and trying to head away from a crowd of men behind her in Tahrir Square.

“Logan was covering the jubilation . . . when she and her team and their security were surrounded by a dangerous element amidst the celebration,” CBS said in a statement. “It was a mob of more than 200 people whipped into a frenzy.

“In the crush of the mob, [Logan] was separated from her crew. She was surrounded and suffered a brutal and sustained sexual assault and beating before being saved by a group of women and an estimated 20 Egyptian soldiers.

“She reconnected with the CBS team, returned to her hotel and returned to the United States on the first flight the next morning,” the network added. “She is currently in the hospital recovering.”

A network source told The Post that her attackers were screaming, “Jew! Jew!” during the assault. And the day before, Logan had told Esquire.com that Egyptian soldiers hassling her and her crew had accused them of “being Israeli spies.” Logan is not Jewish.

Her real religious affiliation, if any, is immaterial. Logan had become the embodiment of the paranoia and conspiracy-mongering in a society that can take seriously claims that Israel has trained sharks to attack Muslims or is sending AIDs-carrying women to Egypt. And Jews have been the declared (by Muslims) enemies of Islam since the days of Muhammad, the invocation of the Muslim massacre of the Jews at Khaybar being a rallying cry to this day. Indeed, the Muslim version of the anti-Christ will be born of a Jew and lead an army of Jews. Thus calling Logan a Jew, as well has her “immodest behavior,” justified her rape. If she had just worn a niqab and stayed in her room like a proper woman… .

But don’t you dare say Islam isn’t tolerant or doesn’t respect women.

UPDATE: The Washington Post reports that Logan is home with her family and adds this chilling note:

When Logan returned Saturday to the United States, she was described as being in shock and not speaking, the source added.

Poor woman. To think what she and her family are going through right now.
