Moral Relativism Alert: Ellison says “radicalization” seen “across our society”

Hate to say Toldjah So, but …. (via CBS News):

Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) told CBS News today in a one-on-one interview that the “Muslim radicalization” hearing planned for this Thursday unfairly targets Muslim Americans living in this country. The first Muslim member of the United States Congress argued that violent radicalization is a “phenomena we see across our society” and across religions.

“Look at people who bomb abortion clinics- are these not people who are radicalized?” Ellison asked. “Are they not using violence? Are they not motivated by religious devotion?”

Ellison said that to “target one religious community, one religious group is a bad idea.”

While Ellison insists that he is not personally offended by Homeland Security Committee Chairman Pete King (R-NY) calling the hearing, he does believe that to “use the gavel to do something like that is a misuse of the gavel.”

“I do think that Congressman King is a man who wants to see our country safer. I think he’s going about it the wrong way” Ellison said. “To say we’re talking about radicalization of the Muslim community widely is the very essence of scapegoating.”

Um, no. Would someone pass Congressman Ellison a dictionary, please? Definition of scapegoating:

a person, group, or thing upon whom the blame for the mistakes or crimes of others is thrust

“Scapegoating” is what your party did to mine, Rep. Ellison, shortly after President Obama was elected and the ObamaCare debate raged on and on at town hall meetings and the like. Tea Partiers and other conservatives were blamed for the actions of radical fringe liberals who brought Hitler/Obama signs to some of the town halls. Β  Tea Party types saying or bringing similar signs to protests and meetings were few and far between – truly a tiny amount when compared to how often such comparisons were made by left wingers regarding President Bush and Vice President Cheney for the 8 years prior to Obama’s election. Β But those rare instances were used by the mainstream media and other shamelessly opportunistic liberals to paint all of us who stood strongly opposed to health care “reform” as “racists” and “wannabe assassins”, etc. Β In fact, that happens pretty much anytime a conservative opposes President Obama. Β They’re automatically branded as “haters” and “racists” simply due to the fact that they dare to take a stand against the Socialization of America. Β Who cares about the facts when there’s a narrative to foster?

Where has Rep. Ellison been while this vicious broad brush assault Β has been taking place across the country? It doesn’t matter to him, I guess – because it’s happening to a group of people he and his party relish demonizing and demagoguing: Β their political opposition, and facts be damned.

On the other hand, what Rep. King is doing is talking about a very real – very widespread issue in the Islamic community: Β Its radicalization. Β  Β Detroitistan demonstrates that all too well. Β There are many more examples where that came from. And people who don’t take a “see, Β hear, speak no evil” approach (read: liberals) to the issue of Islamofascism will tell you just how bad it’s going to be if we don’t continue pushing back against it with the truth.

As far as Ellison’s dig at Christians with his comment about abortion clinic bombings, here’s a flashback to something I wrote about this very issue back in July 2009 – just as relevant today as it was then:

You read reprehensible stories like this, and you scream out in outrage – yet at the first sound you make about how this is just one more example of the type of β€œacceptable” behavior that is prevelant amongst Islamists, someone on the left will jump in angrily and demand that you β€œacknowledge” that morally repulsive behavior like this is not characteristic of Islam on the whole – that acts like these are committed β€œonly by a militant few.” Which is a lie. Yet, you have a few isolated incidents of extremist β€œChristian/right wing” (or whatever they’re calling it today) violence here in the US this year, and all of a sudden it’s a β€œwidespread problem,” and one that β€œproves” what β€œthey’ve” been saying all along about us crazy right-wingers, and as a result, we must be β€œwatched a little closer” by DHS.

That the left can’t see the differences between a few acts of radical extremist fringe violence here in the US committed by lone, depraved sociopaths, and the worldwide, almost weekly incidents of Islamofascism committed against innocent civilians – some that are terrorist acts against the west, while others β€œacceptable” acts of β€œpunishment” for Muslim men and women who allegedly have β€œbroken” Islamic β€œlaw” – says a hell of a lot more about the left in this country than it does the right in terms of perspective and the ability to distinguish between good and evil and isolated versus epidemic.

From an October 2010 post – same issue:

There is no issue that brings out the blatant hypocrisy, illogic, stupidity, and duplicitous nature of activist liberals more than when it comes to Christianity and the left’s outrageousΒ attempts at equatingΒ rare and isolated incidents of extremism committed because of the mistaken belief by a tiny few wackos that the Bible promotes violence against non-believers, to theΒ routine, worldwide Islamofascistic terrorismΒ that is bothΒ promoted and mandated by the Koran itself.

Don’t think that Ellison, a noted apologist and supporter of radical Islamists, isn’t well aware of that fact. Β Remember this on Thursday when Ellison testifies at the hearing, because you sure as hell won’t hear it from his fellow apologists in Congress, nor the mainstream media.

Update: My co-blogger quipped earlier on Twitter:

Yeah, you really have to watch out for those radical Presbyterians and suicide Baptists.

Got that right! You never know what you’ll find at those Sunday after-church potluck lunches …
