Speculation swirling tonight surrounding a burglary at a recall headquarters. Organizers trying to recall Senator Dave Hansen say police are now involved after someone smashed a window swiping petitions and a computer. Now, the leader of the effort is accusing one group of committing the crime.
The burglary comes just days after the recall Hansen group announced they had enough signatures for a recall election. Campaign organizer David Vander Leest says he’s angry and has reason to believe a certain group is responsible because the vandals only took things connected to the recall.

Only about 150 signatures were taken Vander Leest says even without those names they still have enough to file their Petition.

The burglar or burglars broke a window to make entry, police said. The incident occurred between 5 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday, police Lt. David Paral said.
Organizers of the effort, in an email to media, blamed the break-in on “the (opposition) of ‘Recall Dave Hansen.'” Police said they did not have descriptions of suspects.
Total value of the missing items is slightly more than $1,000, Paral said.
