Mind-numbingly idiotic pro-abort quote of the day – and a response

Sigh. Via the Letters to the Editor section in Florida’s Sun Sentinel (emphasis added by me):

Having been in the trenches in the 1970s when the legalization of abortion came about in New York state and the in-pouring of desperate women from all over the United States and Canada occurred, I can tell you firsthand that women will continue to have and need abortions regardless of the laws promulgated by men for political purposes to satisfy their right-wing constituents.

So many of the people who today are against abortion have had or would have this procedure if the circumstances were on a personal basis.

So many rabid anti-abortion people saw the light after their unwanted pregnancy problem was solved, but now want to expiate their guilt by being on the front lines of the pro-life movement.

I find it the height of hypocrisy that these people would kill a doctor who performs abortions but restrict food and health aid to babies once born. Right to life?

It’s really hard to know where to start with this one, but I should point out that this staunch advocate for abortion, who slams abortions laws that – by the faulty description above – were “promulgated by men” (as if there’s no such thing as an elected female pro-lifer) is a man himself who has probably never been told by “feminists” that his opinion doesn’t count … because he’s “pro-choice.” You see, it’s ok to be a man and voice your opinion on the issue, and advocate pro-abortion laws as long as your opinion falls squarely in line with that of the rad-fems, whose belief is that abortion should not be restricted in any circumstance … including partial-birth abortions, for two reasons: 1) they believe any restriction on abortion is a “back door attempt by the right to slowly erode the ‘rights’ of a woman to ‘choose'”, and 2) most of them don’t view the unborn child as an actual human being until it’s not only been born, but it’s been declared healthy enough to live (an opinion shared by our celebrity President, BTW).

As to the issue of “killing a doctor”, first things first: Um, New Tone –Β where? Secondly, the guy can’t be stupid enough to really think that the vast majority of pro-lifers condoned the murder of Dr. Tiller. On the other hand, over 50 million babies have been aborted since Roe v. Wade was decided, giving a woman the “right” to terminate the beating heart of her unborn child without limits up until the point of viability – around 24 weeks.

Pro-aborts like to point out – as if it makes a shred of difference – that the vast majority of abortions are performed in the first trimester. While this is true, what they don’t point out, and try very hard to prevent you and pregnant women considering abortion from knowing, is not only the fetal development of a 1st trimester unborn childΒ but also the most common abortion performed during the first tri: vacuum aspiration. First, let’s take a look at the fetal development that takes place during the 1st tri:

Week 3 – Gestational Age (Fetal Age – Week 1): The embryo is going through lots of basic growth at this time, with the beginning development of the brain, spinal cord, heart, and gastrointestinal tract.

Week 4 & 5 – Gestational Age (Fetal Age – Weeks 2 & 3): Arm and leg buds are visible, but not clearly distinguishable. The heart is now beating at a steady rhythm. The placenta has begun to form and is producing some important hormones including hCG. There is movement of rudimentary blood through the main vessels. The early structures that will become the eyes and ears are forming. The embryo is ΒΌ inch long by the end of these weeks.

Week 6 – Gestational Age (Fetal Age – Week 4): The formation of the lungs, jaw, nose, and palate begin now. The hand and feet buds have webbed structures that will become the fingers and toes. The brain is continuing to form into its complex parts. A vaginal ultrasound could possibly detect an audible heartbeat at this time. The embryo is about a Β½ inch in length.

Week 7 – Gestational Age (Fetal Age – Week 5): At 7 weeks gestation, every essential organ has begun to form in the embryo’s tiny body even though it still weighs less than an aspirin. The hair and nipple follicles are forming, and the eyelids and tongue have begun formation. The elbows and toes are more visible as the trunk begins to straighten out.

Week 8 – Gestational Age (Fetal Age – Week 6): The ears are continuing to form externally and internally. Everything that is present in an adult human is now present in the small embryo. The bones are beginning to form, and the muscles can contract. The facial features continue to mature, and the eyelids are now more developed. The embryo is at the end of the embryonic period and begins the fetal period. The embryo is about 1 inch long and is the size of a bean.

Weeks 9 thru 13 – Gestational Age (Fetal Age – Weeks 7 thru 11): The fetus has grown to about 3 inches in length and weighs about an ounce. The genitalia have clearly formed into male or female, but still could not be seen clearly on an ultrasound. The eyelids close and will not reopen until the 28th week of pregnancy. The fetus can make a fist, and the buds for baby teeth appear. The head is nearly half the size of the entire fetus.

Now, let’s take a look at what happens during a vacuum aspiration abortion:

ASPIRATION ABORTION β€” THE MOST COMMON KIND OF IN-CLINIC ABORTION

During an aspiration abortion

  • Your health care provider will examine your uterus.
  • You will get medicine for pain. You may be offered sedation β€” a medicine that allows you to be awake but deeply relaxed.
  • A speculum will be inserted into your vagina.
  • Your health care provider may inject a numbing medication into or near your cervix.
  • The opening of your cervix may be stretched with dilators β€” a series of increasingly thick rods. Or you may have absorbent dilators inserted a day or a few hours before the procedure. They will absorb fluid and get bigger. This slowly stretches open your cervix. Medication may also be used with or without the dilators to help open your cervix.
  • You will be given antibiotics to prevent infection.
  • A tube is inserted through the cervix into the uterus.
  • Either a hand-held suction device or a suction machine gently empties your uterus.
  • Sometimes, an instrument called a curette is used to remove any remaining tissue that lines the uterus. It may also be used to check that the uterus is empty. When a curette is used, people often call the abortion a D&C β€” dilation and curettage.

It gets even worse during a second trimester abortion, which I’ve written about here.

So, with that in mind, let’s review: The vast majority of pro-lifers, both male and female, elected and average Joe/Jane Citizens, vocally condemned the murder of partial birth abortionist Dr. Tiller.Β  On the other hand, the vast majority of pro-aborts applaud, encourage, celebrate, and recommend that women who don’t want their baby for any reason have an abortion procedure done, an inhumane, grotesequeΒ procedure which includes sucking out the developing baby parts piece by piece and extinguishing the unborn child’s heartbeat forever.Β Β  Pretty disturbing, considering that liberals believe that we shouldn’tΒ put to deathΒ brutal murderers on death row because the various punishments, including lethal injection and the gas chamber, are – to them – considered “cruel and unusual punishment” and are therefore “unconstitutional.”Β  We must show mercy to murderers and no mercy (or at most “optional mercy”) to the unborn.

Now that’s the “height of hypocrisy.”

And yet pro-lifers are the ones who are “extremists.” Go figure …
