I pity the fool who crosses Rep. Allen West

And that fool yesterday was Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Shultz (D-FL), who is also Chair of the Democratic National Committee. During yesterday’s debate in the House before the vote on the “Cut, Cap, and Balance” bill and after Rep. West had left the room, Wasserman-Schultz attacked him in all but name:

“The gentleman from Florida,” Wasserman Schultz said of West, “who represents thousands of Medicare beneficiaries, as do I, is supportive of this plan that would increase costs for Medicare beneficiaries. Unbelievable from a member from South Florida.”

Wasserman-Schultz, who is also the chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, said that the measure “slashes Medicaid and critical investments essential to winning the future in favor of protecting tax breaks for Big Oil, millionaires, and companies who ship American jobs overseas.”

I read somewhere that the correct response to an ambush is to counterattack directly at the enemy, rather than hunkering down. If so, then former Lt. Col. West drew his saber and charged:

Let me make myself perfectly clear, you want a personal fight, I am happy to oblige. You are the most vile, unprofessional ,and despicable member of the US House of Representatives. If you have something to say to me, stop being a coward and say it to my face, otherwise, shut the heck up. Focus on your own congressional district!

I am bringing your actions today to our Majority Leader and Majority Whip and from this time forward, understand that I shall defend myself forthright against your heinous characterless behavior……which dates back to the disgusting protest you ordered at my campaign hqs, October 2010 in Deerfield Beach.

You have proven repeatedly that you are not a Lady, therefore, shall not be afforded due respect from me!

Ouch! That left a mark.

But don’t think I don’t have sympathy with Rep. Wasserman-Schultz… believe it. I have none. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz is nothing more than a race-baiting hyper-partisan tool and professional pol whose main goal is to serve the Democratic Party’s needs before her own country’s.

Some might argue that Rep. West should have held back, been a gentleman, generally “above it all” and “better than that.” Bunk. What that really means is that we should stand there and take the progressive Democrats’ churlish behavior on the chin, for they will never act with grace regardless of how restrained we are.

As far as I’m concerned, Representative West gave Representative Wasserman-Schultz exactly what she deserved.

Can’t wait for next time!

I’m glad to know we have a few good men out there who are willing to speak out against those evil bastards in the Democratic party. That goes for their leader Mr. Socialist in chief Obama.

I’m betting blabbermouth Schwartz thinks twice before taking on Allen West again. I wish West were running for president. We wouldn’t be hearing about more iftar dinners in the White House or Apology tours to countries that hate America.

Gee, I wish Mr. West would quit mincing words, holding back, wearing the kid gloves, and instead just come out and say what he really means. Let’s see if the big-teeth smiley works for me: :d [Nope! What am I doing wrong?]

Olberdouche was quick to defend his fellow dirt bag. I’ll bet Mr. Ferocious Loudmouth would be quiet and docile in the face of an actual real man, like West. Either that, or West would teach the imbecile to STFU when confronted with his betters. West could twist his bloated head off his pencil neck and use the stub for a spittoon. Hell, being used as a spittoon would be a step up from supporting a vessel of rat feces for the last 40+ years.

What is so great about West is that he leads by example which no doubt must come from his training in the US Army. He is showing Republicans how to deal with a bully. Respond quickly, firmly and publicly and the Democrats will pick their fights more carefully next time. I just hope his colleagues in the Congress avail themselves of this lesson in our current political climate. If a Republican wins the Presidency in 2012, West would make an outstanding Chief-of-Staff.

I’ve been a fan of Congressman West for some time now, but I think he hurt himself here.

He’s right, of course, and standing up against her blatant lies is the right thing to do, but he went about it in the wrong way. By denouncing her with personal attacks, especially since he didn’t bother to back up his words with the specifics that justify them, he’s lowered himself to her level. Worse, her lies were couched in ‘civil’ terms, his response was in far more inflammatory terms, and he’s opened himself up to a backlash.

Far better to respond line by line, sticking to the facts and leaving off the personal attacks. Quote her, then say ‘the truth is…’. Rebut all of her points in a way that clearly shows what a shameless liar she is. Then, once you’ve established the fact of her lies, you can state that she’s a disgrace and a demagogue and demand a retraction and an apology.

I just sent Col. West an email of support. Tell them they will get their apology when they line up and kiss his bare ass at high noon on the capitol steps and not one nano second before.
And be sure to notify the photographers, Schultz may want a momento. There is some civility they will understand.

Allen West fell on his face a while back when he scolded the conservative base for “wasting time trying to get Obamacare repealed”. There is nothing more important for the future of the country than getting Obamacare repealed.

None of this silliness means a thing if he won’t fight on that front…watching you, Allen.

One think I had learned growing up in Chicago was how to deal with bullies. He let them know directly that you know what they are doing. You challenge them and you are direct. This is exactly what West did. He now owns her. She will want NOTHING to do with him. Why is it that West and Rubio always seem to say the right things.

I DON’T think West hurt himself at all. He was right about DWS and we certainly have not acquitted ourselves well by trying to be polite to the likes of Alan Grayson, Sheila Jackson Lee, et al. West didn’t hurt himself at all. I sent him a donation as a result and I don’t live in FL.

One of the most rediculous aspects of writing the “proper” letter to your congress(wo)man is to begin the salutation with: “The Honorable…” Based upon many of those in Congress today (and the past) have no idea what honor truly is. Most are downright despicable. Yet they want this high moral ground and respect thrown their way. Can someone enlighten me as to how Rep. Wiener and Grayson (among others from both sides of the aisle) so ever be addressed this way?

I suspect that Debbie has a terrible handicap that she uses to great advantage: she can transmit but she cannot receive. Any response addressed to her should really be directed at those who might support the fools for which she fronts.

Your approach is what’s gotten the GOP where it is today – afraid of its own shadow. It’s part of what cost us control of Congress in ’06, and what cost us the White House in ’08.

Doubt that he hurt himself in any way politically, as far as speaking to his base, but I agree about specifics. I think a little of that would have gone a long way to enhance and justify his indignation.

I knew it wasn’t all that clear, but I wanted it to be just “Sgt Schlultz.” Letting the mustache show through was really an afterthought, but seemed to help. Maybe a big logo on the bottom SGT SCHULTZ? Just to be clear? :)
