Sunday evening Rubio: Q&A at the Reagan Library

A few days ago I posted video of Senator Marco Rubio’s speech at the Ronald Reagan library. The junior senator from Florida hung around afterwards for a brief question and answer session. Like the speech itself, it’s worth watching. He’s completely at ease and, unlike another (supposed) great speaker, there are no “ums,” “ahs,” or awkward pauses.

At the risk of sounding like a Rubio groupie, this guy is good:

You are right ST. I’ve heard him speak several times and he always impresses me. And myself I think he sounds much more presidential than you know who. No teleprompter, no ums, or ah..ah..ah..just straight forward from the heart interaction. But ask him something that he has not heard or isn’t prepared for and he stumbles, and stumbles, like he is waiting for someone to tell him what to say. I wouldn’t be surprised if he had an earphone in his ear and had someone somewhere backstage telling him what to say. But anyway thanks for the link. I would have never heard this without your tweet.

So sorry to be sounding like my dad, but I expect great things from this young man. He has common sense, purpose and is focused on doing what is right and not what is politically expedient.

I do hope to see him go for the presidency one day!

He is soooo good, with nearly everything I’ve heard and seen.

But if he’s that good, why’s he a politician? Makes one wonder…

In the meantime, I’d support him for whatever office he wants to go for. If the Repubs don’t screw it up next year as they are wont to do, and hold on for the full two terms, then Rubio will have that twelve years of voting record and scrutiny in the public eye on which to base one’s vote.

My guess is he’ll have a couple of scars and maybe a tarnish here or there, but will have the best background and unsullied past since Ron Reagan.

I think he’s great, I want to see more, I won’t engage in unproductive wishful thinking.
