Gunwalker about to break wide open?

This might be the final crack before the dam surrounding Operation Fast and Furious collapses altogether. We already knew that a BATF operation, with the cooperation of other federal agencies including the FBI and the US Attorney’s Office in Arizona, knowingly allowed regulated heavy firearms to be sold by US gun dealers to “straw buyers” who were acting on behalf of the Mexican drug cartels. We also know that those guns were knowingly allowed to “walk” over the border to the waiting hands of the cartels , where we promptly lost track of them. And finally, we know that up to two US federal officers and over 200 Mexican soldiers, federal agents, and civilians have died because of “walked” guns.

That’s bad enough.

But today’s revelation in the New York Post is even worse: the BATF may have bought some of the guns themselves and resold them to the cartels:

Let that sink in: After months of pretending that “Fast and Furious” was a botched surveillance operation of illegal gun-running spearheaded by the ATF and the US attorney’s office in Phoenix, it turns out that the government itself was selling guns to the bad guys.

Agent John Dodson was ordered to buy four Draco pistols for cash and even got a letter from his supervisor, David Voth, authorizing a federally licensed gun dealer to sell him the guns without bothering about the necessary paperwork.

“Please accept this letter in lieu of completing an ATF Form 4473 for the purchase of four (4) CAI, Model Draco, 7.62×39 mm pistols, by Special Agent John Dodson,” read the June 1, 2010, letter. “These aforementioned pistols will be used by Special Agent Dodson in furtherance of performance of his official duties.”

On orders, Dodson then sold the guns to known criminals, who first stashed them away and then — deliberately unhindered by the ATF or any other agency — whisked them off to Mexico.

People were killed with Fast and Furious weapons, including at least two American agents and hundreds of Mexicans. And the taxpayers picked up the bill.

So where’s the outrage?

(Emphasis added)

Darned good question. While I think Michael Walsh’s speculations on the motives behind Gunwalker (1) are premature in the absence of more facts, I agree one-hundred percent with his conclusion: it’s time for a special prosecutor.

With the DOJ stonewalling House and Senate investigators, it’s the only way we’re going to get to the bottom of this fiasco.

RELATED: Prior Gunwalker posts.

(1) That it was either (or both) an effort to create a crisis that would lead to a call for strict gun-control in the US, or a CIA operation to arm other cartels against the Zetas, out of fear the Zetas might overthrow the Mexican government.

BO is having too many coverups to keep them all under control. Now DOE has a loan Gauruntee in the amount of near $775 MILLION to an outfit with a former Solyndra swindler on it.

  2. Yorkshire says:

BREAKING: $737 million green jobs loan was given to Nancy Pelosi’s brother-in-law. SHARE this to spread the truth: Obama, Pelosi and the liberals running Washington D.C. are corrupt!!

  3. Chris in NC says:

There’s no outrage because there’s no coverage. It’s a democrat. Obama could grab a gun and slaughter a school full of kids and 1, the media would cover for him saying the kids were brats or something and 2, 40% of the country would vote for him because he’s a democrat and they’re scum sucking pieces of trash who just want to leach off the country…

  4. Tango says:

Lessee. We have a regime that is illegally running guns to known criminal organizations. Passing out billions in taxpayer “loans” to political cronies and campaign cash bundlers. A foreign policy that is nothing short of embarrassing. And an economy in its third year of being in the tank.

    Had enough?

  5. bob jones says:

Plain and simple, it doesn’t get any worse than this. Several government agencies have been caught intentionally selling guns to the violent drug cartels, that has resulted in the murders of hundreds of Mexican and American citizens and there will probably be thousands more, and from all of the whistleblowers, memos and emails,it is very plain to see that this goes directly to the DOJ, and implicates the AG and the President. This is what evil looks like.

  6. Karliner says:

Give a thug a billion dollars he wants a trillion and even that’s not enough. Sooo how many have been mordered in Libya’s “kinetic Humanitarian Effort?”

  7. Carlos says:

Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Except in this case, where only a normal amount of power has corrupted absolutely. Of course, it helps when those absolutely corrupted were nearly so to begin with…

Yeah, somebody turn me into the Attack Watch site, please.

  8. H Hazell says:

Time for a Special Prosecutor?!!! Too bad our system doesn’t permit going directly to a Special Jailer!!!

  9. bccloss says:

The next growth industries in 2013 will be in prision construction, the paper industry (for all the legal docs printed), and the ABA (as there are quite a number of Dems in DC that will require advice and counsel)…

  10. ironhorzmn says:

What the ATF did (running guns across international borders into the hands of violent gangs engaged in undermining a sovereign state) would be unbelievably illegal if done without the permission of the President and Secretary of State in their constitutional role of foreign policy.

Since Obama is not throwing ATF agents in prison by the bushel, it follows that this operation was carried out either with his knowledge…or by his direction. Q.E.D.

  11. PE says:

No attrocity so great and obvious that it can’t be ignored. Stick a macaque label somewhere on this thing. That might get the WaPo to chase after it.

  12. mike191 says:

Once again,if the President had a “R” after his name, this would be a news item. The sad premise of our “fourth estate” being a watch dog for the public and buffer for governmental tyranny is now an aid and abet criminal enterprise.

    Post 7 is spot on.

  13. David says:

If dead American bodies wont get the media to report the story, nothing will. At this point it would almost be more embarrasing to them to start covering it than to continue to ignore it.

  14. Chris in NC says:

This was an act of war. They sent arms and aid to rebels trying to take control of a government. If this was any republican, the impeachment proceedings would have begun even in a republican controlled congress.

If we keep it going via alternative media and sneak some reporters into a news conference to ask some questions about it to Obama, it might get traction.
