#Gitmo: Def. attorney for 9/11 terrorist asks women to “cover up” out of “respect”

Via Fox News:

The defense attorney who wore a traditional Islamic outfit during the rowdy arraignment of the accused Sept. 11 terrorists is defending her courtroom appeal that other women in the room wear more “appropriate” clothing to the proceedings — out of respect for her client’s Muslim beliefs.

Cheryl Bormann, counsel for defendant Walid bin Attash, attended the arraignment Saturday dressed in a hijab, apparently because her client insisted on it. She further requested that the court order other women to follow that example so that the defendants do not have to avert their eyes “for fear of committing a sin under their faith.”

At a press conference Sunday at Guantanamo Bay, Bormann said she dresses in a hijab at “all times” when she meets with her client “out of respect” for his beliefs. Asked why she requested other women do the same, Bormann said, “When you’re on trial for your life, you need to be focused.”

Bormann, who is not Muslim, claimed the issue came up several years ago, when a paralegal wore “very short skirts” and it became a distraction for the defendants. She said that on Saturday, “somebody” was also dressed “in a way that was not in keeping with my client’s religious beliefs.”

“If because of someone’s religious beliefs, they can’t focus when somebody in the courtroom is dressed in a particular way, I feel it is incumbent upon myself as a counsel to point that out and ask for some consideration from the prosecution,” she said. “Suffice to say it was distracting to members of the accused.”

Oh, bite me, woman. As I said on Twitter earlier, if I could get to these trials I would make it a point to wear the most offensive thing possible in front of the “defendants” – not because I’m the flashy type but because I despise Islam’s oppressive, violent treatment of women and Islam’s deadly disdain for western culture.

Screw them!

She’s essentially demanding that every woman in the courtroom submit to Sharia law and its “hardwired” misogyny. As I’ve said before, Islam’s dress code for women assumes men cannot control themselves and therefore makes the woman responsible for the sexual behavior of the man. It is profoundly insulting to both sexes.

If Ms. Borman wants to abase herself by wearing a hijab, that’s her affair, just as it’s mine to consider her pathetic. But as for her demand that others also submit? I’m with ST.

    Screw it.

Ok. This makes me want to pack the court room gallery with strippers. Wonder if the judge will permit a brass pole in his courtroom?

  3. MissJean says:

I hope that women in the courtroom will do two things: Dress like normal women (neither sleazy nor dimmied) and put Cheryl Bormann in her place. She is a unique part of the War on Women: the collaborator against other women.

    2 words for the Def. Att…. F U !

  5. SpideyTerry says:

Could Bormann shut her trap? That would show respect to my eardrums.

  6. Old Rod says:

I say Fu-k them~ And the white horses they came in on! ROP is a BIG lie

  7. Carlos says:

Properly defending a client under the Constitution does NOT include trying to make the rest of the court kowtow to a client’s distorted sense of propriety.

If the military judge falls for this, he’s as much in the bag as any court judge in our judicial system, plain and simple, and we’d better start arming for a war against our own military because if that’s the kind of leadership our military has, we’ve already lost and it’s all over but the shouting.

  8. MoxieLouise says:

Wait, so the problem is, he doesn’t want to soil his virginal eyes by looking upon a woman? Well, how about a nice blindfold? Why inconvenience the entire courtroom when one of Grandma’s dishrags would solve everything?

  9. Drew the Infidel says:

What this so-called defense attorney has lost sight of is the fact her murdering client would love to see her infidel a** dead just like the innocent victims of 9/11. As for usual female dress being offensive, why are those perverts looking down there anyway?

  10. Ken66 says:

“Offensive to him.” Well, I find the back-shooting cowardice of terrorist activities pretty damn offensive myself. Who cares about offending this whiney little pissant?

  11. Kate says:

Why are we kowtowing to Sharia law? What court is this taking place in?

Everyone who has half brain knew that this is the direction this type of trial would take and, of course, we see it now in these kinds of outburst with their general disregard for the proceedings, not listening to translations and even throwing a paper airplane and giving the thumbs up sign to a victim’s family…enough already. Throw them in pig sty and let them stay there and pray for Allah to rescue them.

  12. CaMom says:

How about “Show US respect by not murdering thousands of innocent people” – If the judge doesn’t censure the defense attorney for her BS, this ‘trial’ is a joke.

  13. Gunga says:

Ms. Bormann is demonstrating her ignorance. The hijab is a cultural contrivance that has no direct relationship to Islam in any way shape or form. How about her clients’ start showing respect for our culture by not being an uptight/retrograde creep?

  14. Tex says:

Bormann should stop embarrassing herself in front of the world and stop groveling on the floor to her client. How pathetic!

I wonder how far she would go to “respect” his beliefs, which include, murdering every single American man, woman, and child.

One thing’s for sure, she’s so stupid and completely lacking any common sense that she’ll go far in the Democratic Party should she choose a political career.
