QOTD: Mitt Romney zings NBC’s Brian Williams on veepstakes question

Haha! Now THIS Mitt Romney I can get behind! Via Bloomberg:

Take a look at Mitt Romney’s serve return:

Brian Williams, the sonorous news anchor for NBC News, was reading from a script when he asked Romney, the Republican Party’s presumptive presidential nominee, if it’s true he’s seeking an “incredibly boring white guy” for a running mate.

“You told me you were not available,” Romney replied, laughing.

“Touche,” Williams said, losing the trail on that line of questioning.

Here’s video of the exchange:

Love it. Then again, I do remember seeing some clips from Romney pressers during his time as Governor of MA. and enjoying how he handled the press. That is something we definitely need in the next Republican President. Score one for Team Mitt. =d>

(Video) This will -or, at least, should- worry the White House

You may recall that, a couple of weeks ago, Mitt Romney spoke before the NAACP at their annual convention. The reception he received was mixed: some standing ovations mixed with jeers at his promise to repeal ObamaCare.

Still, he apparently made some converts who were willing to go on the record:

That’s gotta hurt.

Then there’s this item from Breitbart — CBS News: Blacks Unsatisfied With Obama

CBS does a pretty good job giving a myriad of examples of that dissatisfaction, even while in nearly every other paragraph, CBS reporter Leigh Ann Caldwell mentions how, dissatisfied or not, they are all still voting for Obama.

But that constant reassurance aside, the piece is filled with example after example of the grumbling from black community leaders and politicians all essentially saying how disappointed they are that Obama has done so little for them.

The piece leads with complaining from Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter and Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), both of whom are annoyed that black unemployment is so much higher than that of other communities.

Obama is also criticized for not showing much leadership on other issues that affect the black community. The piece notes, for instance, that Obama has done little on the violent crime that plagues big city black communities, and he’s also criticized for not speaking before any of the nation’s African American organizations like the NAACP or the National Urban League.

All in all, it seems that many in the African American community feel that Obama has failed to live up to his “unique role in history” and that he’s allowing “political expediency” to rule the day.

It’s been noted many times that the Democratic Party relies on near-total bloc voting by African Americans to win elections; they regularly garner above 90%. Even losing just a few percentage points from that bloc could cost them elections at the national and state levels. Combine the Black vote being depressed because of dissatisfaction with Obama with the sight of NAACP leaders saying it’s okay to vote for Romney, and…

Well, let’s just say David Axelrod probably isn’t sleeping well at night.

PS: Romney 2012, because I want a president who cares about Americans, but doesn’t care about their skin color.

Liberal “religious tolerance” hypocrisy watch – Day 2: The Rahmbo Edition (UPDATED)

Another day, another example of a bigoted liberal showing his hypocritical true colors – via the Chicago Sun-Times:

Ignoring Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan’s history of anti-Semitic remarks, Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Wednesday welcomed the army of men dispatched to the streets by Farrakhan to stop the violence in Chicago neighborhoods.

Ald. Debra Silverstein (50th), an Orthodox Jew, has said it’s good that Farrakhan is “helping” in the fight against crime, “but it doesn’t eradicate the comments that he’s made about the Jewish community.”

Emanuel offered no such caveat. Although Farrakhan has a history of making anti-Semitic statements, Chicago’s first Jewish mayor has no interest in revisiting that controversy.

He’s more concerned about reducing a 40 percent surge in Chicago homicides that’s become a media obsession and threatens to undermine his efforts to market Chicago to international tourists.

Good grief. A Jewish mayor of a major US city is ok with an anti-Semitic, racist “minister” dispatching his goons to help “protect” the rougher parts of Chicago, but a Christian establishment that has expressed the non-violent view that they support the Biblical definition of marriage is not welcomed:

The anti-gay views openly espoused by the president of a fast food chain specializing in chicken sandwiches have run afoul of Mayor Rahm Emanuel and a local alderman, who are determined to block Chick-fil-A from expanding in Chicago.

“Chick-fil-A’s values are not Chicago values. They’re not respectful of our residents, our neighbors and our family members. And if you’re gonna be part of the Chicago community, you should reflect Chicago values,” Emanuel said Wednesday.

“What the CEO has said as it relates to gay marriage and gay couples is not what I believe, but more importantly, it’s not what the people of Chicago believe. We just passed legislation as it relates to civil union and my goal and my hope … is that we now move on recognizing gay marriage. I do not believe that the CEO’s comments … reflects who we are as a city.”

Got that? Christian values “do not reflect Chicago values” – but apparently expressing your hatred of Jews & whites does. The Rev. Jeremiah Wright-approved Nation of Islam thugs are greeted with open arms because Rahmbo thinks they will help with the city’s “image problems”, but a pro-family restaurant chain that has done more positive things for the traditional family structure, kids, and local communities than Mayor Rahm and Farrakhan ever will should be shunned, ostracized, banned.

Welcome to the world of liberal self-loathing. It’s pretty damned ugly.

Update – 5:53 PM: So Chick-fil-A isn’t welcomed in Chicago, but a restaurant in honor of Nation of Islam “Minister” Louis Farrakhan is. “Chicago values” for ya. (Hat tip: ST reader GWR)
