Disturbing: Collusion between #Obama2012 and super PAC Priorities USA?

VERY intriguing:

The former Kansas City steelworker featured in a scathing ad tying his wife’s death to Mitt Romney has appeared in Obama campaign videos before — despite claims by a top Obama adviser Wednesday that he doesn’t know “the specifics of this man’s case” amid revelations that the ad is inaccurate and misleading.

The Romney campaign and other fact-checkers have pushed back hard on the ad, released Tuesday by pro-Obama super PAC Priorities USA. The ad, featuring former GST Steel worker Joe Soptic, suggests Romney was in some way responsible for the death of Soptic’s wife because his plant was shuttered after a takeover by Romney’s firm and others — and because his wife died of cancer after he lost his health insurance.

However, the ad hides details about the timeline of those events. Soptic’s wife died five years after GST filed for bankruptcy. His wife reportedly had her own health insurance after Soptic left GST. And Romney had long since left Bain Capital at the time of her death.

Further, the Obama campaign certainly is familiar with the story of Soptic, despite claims by top campaign aides that they’re not as they tried to make the case Wednesday that the super PAC ad had nothing to do with the campaign’s work.

Soptic appeared in a pair of Obama campaign videos in May which hammered Romney over his former company Bain Capital’s role before GST filed for bankruptcy.

This week, Soptic reemerged in the Priorities USA ad telling how his wife got sick, and later died of cancer, after he was let go at GST steel.

Asked about the spot, Obama campaign adviser Robert Gibbs stressed that the super PAC is not connected to the campaign.

“This is an ad by an entity that’s not controlled by campaign. I certainly don’t know the specifics of this man’s case,” he said on MSNBC.

Errr, he isn’t known as “Robert Fibbs” for nothin’.  9 minutes of refusal to condemn, and insisting the campaign is not affiliated in any way with Priorities USA.  Politico has more:

Asked about the Priorities spot on MSNBC Wednesday morning, Robert Gibbs said he doesn’t “know the specifics” while Stephanie Cutter said on CNN: “I don’t know the facts about when Mr. Soptic’s wife got sick or the facts about his health insurance.”

And [spokeswoman] Jen Psaki told reporters on Air Force One that “we don’t’ have any knowledge of the story of the family,” according to Yahoo! News.

But Cutter hosted an Obama campaign conference call in May in which Soptic told reporters the very story featured in the Priorities spot.

Both the campaign and the Priorities USA Action said there was no coordination about Soptic’s appearances. In the campaign’s ad, Soptic speaks only about the plant. In the Priorities spot, he tells the personal story he relayed during the Obama campaign conference call.

“We have no idea when Priorities shot their spot,” an Obama campaign official said. “We’re not allowed to coordinate with them – but we can tell you it wasn’t when we shot ours.”

The aide didn’t answer questions about when the Obama campaign shot its Soptic footage or explain Cutter’s televised statement.

Breitbart.com’s Ben Shapiro gets direct and to the point:

These were lies. The Obama campaign has known for months all about Joe Soptic. In fact, the Obama campaign website ran a slide on Soptic:

That slideshow appears to have been put up in May, coincident with the campaign’s video about GST Steel featuring Soptic.

But that wasn’t all. On May 14, Soptic spoke on an Obama campaign conference call.

For the Obama team to claim ignorance about Soptic while spinning his story precisely the same way as Priorities USA Action did — and then to run a conference call off the story — shows both coordination and lying.

I’d say a full court press for answers is in order to get, among other crucial bits of information, the exact dates and times of the production of the ads to determine, as Victoria Taft firmly believes, if collusion did occur.  We won’t get that from the prObama MSM (not directly, anyway), but I know there are some intrepid bloggers out there who will dig and dig … and hopefully soon we’ll get those answers.  In my opinion, this is just too coincidental to be anything other than collusion, which is  illegal.

As they say, stay tuned …

#FastAndFurious : gun used in plot to kill police chief supplied by ATF?

**Posted by Phineas

Someone has got a helluva lot to answer for:

A weapon tied to “Operation Fast and Furious” was seized in Tijuana in connection with a drug cartel’s conspiracy to kill the police chief of Tijuana, Baja California, who later became the Juárez police chief, according to a U.S. government report.

The firearm was found Feb. 25, 2010, during an arrest of a criminal cell associated with Teodoro “El Teo” García Simental and Raydel “El Muletas” López Uriarte, allies of the Sinaloa cartel.

Tijuana police said they arrested four suspects in March 2010 in connection with a failed attempt to take out Julián Leyzaola, and that the suspects allegedly confessed to conspiring to assassinate the police chief on orders from Tijuana cartel leaders.

The suspects had an arsenal of weapons and ammunition, and one of the firearms traced back to the operation that the Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms, Tobacco and Explosives (ATF) was monitoring from its field office in Phoenix.

Adrian Sanchez, spokesman for Leyzaola, said Leyzaola was unavailable for comment.

So far, the House Oversight Committee has laid blame for the operation on the Phoenix ATF and US Attorney’s Office for the fiasco known as “Operation Fast and Furious,” in which more than 300 Mexican citizens and at least one, perhaps two US federal officers were killed by weapons supplied by the ATF to Mexican drug cartels. However, that was only part one of the committee’s report. Parts two and three will deal with the Department of Justice’s failures and its obstruction of the committee’s investigations.

In the meantime, the thousands of firearms let loose by our government are going to be the source of a lot of misery on both sides of the border for years to come.

Documents show WH told feds to go easy on #OccupyPortland protesters

Why am I not surprised?

The Obama administration told law enforcement authorities to go easy on Occupy Wall Street protesters, even though they were violating local laws, according to documents obtained by watchdog group Judicial Watch.

Emails from the General Services Administration show that the federal agency, acting on orders from the White House, told federal law enforcement authorities in Portland, Ore., not to enforce curfews on protesters camped out on federal property. JudicialWatch.org  obtained the emails through a Freedom of Information Act request lodged last year.

In one exchange from Nov. 6, 2011, officials from the Department of Homeland Security and the GSA discuss a group of 11 protesters camped out at the federally-owned Terry Schrunk Plaza.

“They have chained themselves to a large drum filled with concrete,” reads an email from Department of Homeland Security/National Protection and Programs Directorate Chief of Staff Caitlin Durkovich to GSA Public Buildings Service Commissioner Robert Peck. “GSA controls the permits and has asked FPS [Federal Protective Services] not to enforce the curfew at park and the prohibition on overnight encampments…Our FPS Commander in Portland says they are standing down and following GSA’s request to only intervene if there is a threat to public safety,” she added in the email.

Peck — who later resigned amid revelations his agency held lavish junkets at taxpayers’ expense — replied: “Caitlin: yes, that is our position; it’s been vetted with our administrator and Michael Robertson, our chief of staff, and we have communicated with the WH [White House], which has afforded us the discretion to fashion our approach to Occupy issues…The arrests last week were carried out despite our request that the protesters be allowed to remain and to camp overnight…”

“We now have a new GSA scandal — one that involves the Obama White House,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “These documents clearly show that federal agencies colluded with the Obama White House to allow the Occupy Wall Street protesters to violate the law with impunity. These documents tell us that the GSA and DHS can’t be relied upon to protect federal workers or property.”

The WH approach to Occupy as indicated by these emails is quite revealing when you think about the visceral dislike the Obama administration and their fellow Democrats in Congress have for the Tea Party – you know … actual peaceful protesters. Think about it: A top priority for this WH for the last three-plus years has been to demonize and vilify Tea Partiers as “extremists” and “violent racists” who oppose Obama solely on the basis of his race, who want him out of office “by any means necessary.” There is no basis for this whatsoever and in fact it is not true, but you’d think it was based on wildly distorted and in many cases deeply exaggerated and/or falsified mainstream media “reports” about Tea Party rallies, and ObamaCare town halls across the country. In contrast, you have Occupy encampments in various cities in the US where violence and crime was commonplace: theft (more here), “hacktivism“, destruction of private and public property, urination and defecation on public and private property, assaults, rapes … and even deaths. Yet in spite of all this, the White House reached out to keep “peaceful” (not) Occupiers from being disbanded and/or arrested at Occupy Portland, one of the most active and provocative camps in the America.

Just how many other deliberately agitative, combative, and violent Occupy protests around the country did the WH step in to try and protect? I’d sure as heck love to find out.
