Sunday Football Open Thread: #Cowboys at the #Panthers

Panthers logoWell, after a bye week and a lot of soul-searching, the Panthers are gearing up to take on the Dallas Cowboys today at Bank of America Stadium. The weather outside is nice at 60 degrees and clear skies with an expected high of 68, but hopefully the Cats can use their home field advantage to turn up the temperature a little higher against the Cowboys, whose record (2-4) isn’t much better than ours (1-4).

I’m not optimistic we’ll win but I did pick the Panthers in this week’s office football pool. Please don’t let me down, guys!

If you get a chance, make sure to read Observer sports columnist Scott Fowler’s awesome article on the late Panthers linebacker (and former assistant coach) Sam Mills, who passed away from cancer in 2005 at the age of 45. The first Panthers jersey I ever owned was Mills’ #51, and I still have it.

I took this photo of the statue they have of him at the stadium at the pre-season game the Panthers played against the Dolphins in August.

RIP Sam Mills

Game time for the Cowboys at the Panthers is 1 pm ET and it will be broadcast locally on Fox.
