Like the bumper sticker says, “Abortion doesn’t make you unpregnant – it makes you the mother of a dead baby.”

I thought Murdock’s was thoughtful (I don’t agree wholeheartedly with him, but, unlike the left, respect a thought-out and core-belief answer) and an opening for attack because, if there’s one thing the leftists (like Dems and feminazis) can’t stand it’s a stand based upon thoughtful consideration and reason.

I haven’t been disappointed in the result – the left is attacking him visciously and without regard to the truth.

Any fair-minded person knows that Mourdock’s comments were not in any way demeaning to rape victims. And it is obvious that his stand on this issue is, as Carlos said, based on thoughtful consideration and reason. Although I am pro-choice, I respect those who believe life begins at conception and have no problem with their citing God and their religious beliefs as the source of their belief. I do have a problem with those who hold this belief but try to weasel around with it to make it more politically correct. Mourdock did not do this. He is courageous in his belief, and anyone criticizing him is just playing politics with this issue. I have contributed to him in the past and will be doing so again. The one thing I wish politicians would do, however, is recognize that this issue is going to be raised and the left is going to parse and nitpick every word they say. It would be helpful to their campaigns if they would sit down and come up with a clear and concise way to articulate their beliefs. Sometimes they seem to have problems putting into words what they believe and end up stumbling around like Obama without a teleprompter.

I, too, believe that this has become a political football for the left and that their tactics are to browbeat anyone who thinks differently than they do. Where is their concise, conviction-filled narrative on the validity of abortion? We hear a lot of rhetoric, but I have yet to hear one. I hear fear mongering and distortion loud and clear.

The problem with abortions for choices other than those condoned such as rape, incest and health of the mother, is that it is just for the convenience of the woman. It is an elective procedure…hence, it is a choice made by the individual. Selfish motivation to take a life versus God-fearing faith to preserve life. That’s the difference.

I can’t get over how people can really caracterize anyone as “supporting rape”. I think we can all agree that the only people in the world who are actually pro-rape, are rapists.

What I find incredulous is the ideology that prides itself on being loving, tolerant, and understanding of nuance can be so hateful, intolerant, and obtuse.

Ralph, no one here is arguing the left is tolerant, loving, etc. But Republican candidates for office need to understand that they are going to be questioned about abortion and that every word they say on such a sensitive issue will be scrutinized to the max. It makes me want to bang my head against a wall that they apparently do not prepare for this any better than they do. They end up stammering around, sometimes almost incoherently, and give the left plenty of ammunition to use against them. It is unfair that a double standard is being applied here, but that is what is happening. They need to do their homework, so to speak, and be better prepared. And a pox on Jay Leno.

Well, I think that the response that Mourdock gave in his full statement is thoughtful and cogent…he answered from the heart and only for himself, not the whole Republican Party..no stammering and no compromising.

The response that he made to the uproar was much better than his original statement as far as clarity goes. But that was a day late and a dollar short. His lack of preparation to deal with this issue gave not just Mourdock’s opponent ammunition, but gave Obama something to hang around Romney’s neck. I repeat, I support Mourdock, and although I do not share his belief, I have no problem with that. What I find inexcusable is that he and some other Republican candidates are dealing with this in such a clumsy and harmful manner.
