BTW Chirstine O’Donnell’s remarks were about witchcraft while Akin and Mourdock exposed their ignorance about female anatomy, all three attempting to be right-wing badasses.

@ST – well written and balanced post. I work with an anti-gun liberal who goes home and plays the most violent video games every night and cannot see the irony.

@Trilby – standard liberal fare. Also straight out of the Saul Alinsky-Rahm Emanuel playbook of never letting a tragedy go to waste. My message to the DNC is “please please please please make guns a prominent campaign issue.”

@Brontefan – I’ve been thinking the same thing. The day Ambassador Stevens was killed Obama jetted off to Las Vegas to a fundraiser. The answer to the issue of selective outrage is where the political benefit lies.

@Drew the Infidel – of course Islam is a religion. Saying otherwise is stupid and ignorant. Yes it can also be a political ideology, as can Christianity. Most Muslims (and I know a bunch) are nice peaceful people who no do not use their religion as ideology. Besides being wrong, this “Islam is not a religion” bs makes conservatives look bad and costs us elections; see idiots like Christine O’Donnell, Todd Akin and Richard Mourdock as examples. I’m also convinced that Ann Coulter does us as much damage as good too.

Are you really that DENSE, Zachriel? The bodies were still in the classroom, and NO ONE knew what weapons were used when this speculation started. And once it was supposedly “known” (believed, at the time) that it was HANDGUNS and not “an assault weapon” that were used to murder those innocent children, the talk on renewing the AR ban STILL went on. That initial reports may have been wrong, and the “correct” report is that they were allegedly shot with an AW does NOT change the fact that the media and Democrats went with a narrative BEFORE they knew what weapons were allegedly used, and they also went with that narrative DURING the initial reports where it was said that the murderer used two handguns while the AW was in the car.

Get your head out of the sand, Zachriel, and stop believing everything your media masters tell you to.

@Sefton–Islam is not a religion. It is an ideology that has hijacked the Muslim faith (where is the outrage?) and does not qualify as a race, religion, or other protected class.

Drew – I know that and you know that. My analogy was restating an example from the hypocritical liberal mind. The labeling is only for illustration.

@Steph – great post. The corrupted moral fabric and desensitization of society is definitely key here. A deadly concoction when mixed with someone who is mentally ill.
It’s frustrating to see the emotional knee-jerk reactions of some, all focused in the wrong area – gun control. But at the same time it can be infuriating because a lot of it is simply politics. And that’s inexcusable.

ST, I agree with you and it was less than an hour after the shooting (maybe less than 15 minutes!) that the libs started in about gun control. I saw Tweets all day yesterday through today asking to “give it a rest” and keep politics out of it. Instead, the Tweets called for prayer and remembrance. There is a powerful blog post by a woman who deals with a son that is mentally ill going around today. One thing she says repeatedly is that instead of focusing on gun control, we, as a society, should focus on mental illness. All of these shooting incidents were perpetrated by mentally ill persons. Yet, no one mentions that except by passing judgment on the all the drugs these folks are given (and trying to blame the drugs – let’s not argue that here, okay?). I say it is a combination of things: our increasingly violent movies, TV series and video/computer games; a culture of death that starts with pre-birth and ends with “letting” a person of no worth starve to death; God and religion pushed out of schools and the public square; a “feel-good” morality that says a person doesn’t have to obey the law if he/she doesn’t feel like it…well that is just a start of them really. Personally, I believe we need to start with teaching real values to our children as parents and teachers. There IS a right and a wrong; some things ARE black and white! Okay, off the soap box. I am getting tired here. :(

There are more similarities than differences between the CT school shooting and the 9/11 Benghazi attack. Relatively easy penetration of a soft target of opportunity, a facility with shaky security housing cornered helpless innocent victims, people of questionable character wielding illicit weapons, a president making flatulent unserious statements accentuated by soap opera emotionalism, an uninvolved Secretary of State, and neither incident started by an internet video. Add Fast & Furious and you have a definite pattern of incompetence starting at the highest levels.

F&F is simply proof that the only outrage the Prez has against weapons is that they can be used by the citizenry to hold the government at bay, to keep it from neutering all the other God-given rights we as humans have in this country. Matter of fact, as I understand it, that’s why the Second Amendment was there in the first place.

No wonder Obhammed in specific and Dems/libs/socialists/communists/moonbats/unions/LSMers in general don’t like it – they, like all bullies, are afraid we might fight back!
