Heh: #DeportPiersMorgan petition gets over 85,000 signers

Your Friday afternoon funny:

CNN anchor Piers Morgan isn’t benefiting from much holiday spirit, at least according to one measure: The number of signers on a petition urging the White House to deport Morgan had skyrocketed to about 80,000 names by Thursday [NOTE: It’s over 88,000 as of my writing this post. – ST].

The petition, created last week, had 80,838 supporters and is posted on the White House’s official petition site. It slams Morgan forΒ commentsΒ he has made regarding gun control in the wake of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School that killed 20 children and six adults.

β€œBritish Citizen and CNN television host Piers Morgan is engaged in a hostile attack against the U.S. Constitution by targeting the Second Amendment,” theΒ petitionΒ to the Obama administration reads. β€œWe demand that Mr. Morgan be deported immediately for his effort to undermine the Bill of Rights and for exploiting his position as a national network television host to stage attacks against the rights of American citizens.”

And if one didn’t think he could top his extremely over the top advocacy for British-style gun control (not to mention his overt, nasty hostility to people who disagree with him), well – he didΒ (bolded emphasis added by me):

On Monday [12/24], CNN hostΒ Piers MorganΒ invited Saddleback Church PastorΒ Rick WarrenΒ on his program to discuss gay marriage and the bible.

[….]

Following a polite exchange between Morgan and Warren over what the bible does and does not condone, Morgan interjected to insist that the Christian holy book needs to be modernized.

β€œThere is still an element of the bible that is flawed,” Morgan told Warren on his program,Β Piers Morgan Tonight.

β€œI do not believe the bible is flawed,” Warren replied.

β€œBoth the bible and the Constitution were well intentioned, but they are basically, inherently flawed. Hence, the need to amend it,” Morgan continued. β€œMy point to you about gay rights, for example, it’s time for an amendment to the bible.”

β€œNo,” Warren replied.

β€œYou should compile a new bible,” Morgan laughed.

β€œI willingly admit that I base my worldview on the bible, which I believe is true,” Warren said. β€œOpinion changes, but truth doesn’t.”

β€œWe’re going to have to disagree on that,” Morgan said. He noted, however, that it was necessary for debates, both political and social, to remain civil in order to be constructive.

LOL. Morgan only knows how to be “civil” to people if they fall in lock step behind what he advocates. Β What a hypocrite, not to mention a freedom-hating, revisionist loser.

The petition on the White House website, I suspect, is not really an attempt to actually deport Morgan. My guess is that it was created to send him a message that if he really does view this country as deeply flawed as he makes it out to be – which is to say, that it’s not the country he thinks it should be instead of the country the Founders envisioned – then really the best option is for him to return back to his native land. Β Problem is, a growing number there don’t want him back after the “hackergate” scandal. Β So it sounds like he is persona non grata not just here, but in the UK as well.

Aww.

Deport Piers Morgan!
