If we had true journalistic integrity? When was that? When Huntley/Brinkley ran the news every night? Maybe even as far back as when Edward R. Murrow was singing the praises of Uncle Joe? Or at least ignoring the mass murderer’s excesses? Or how ’bout when Walter Cronkite was undermining U.S. interests in the Viet Nam War?

I think you are ignoring the fact there never has been “journalistic integrity” in television broadcast.

Unless one considers that staying true to one’s ideology represents “integrity.”

The outfit that broadcast the Rathergate “fake but accurate” memos and kept pushing the story even after it was discredited has a “classy reputation”? Huh?

I’ll have what he’s having. I’d like to be feeling no economic pain that way too. :)

In many ways this is reminiscent of the scandal at the Los Angeles Times over Staples Center.

Reporters wrote what they thought were news stories in a huge Sunday supplement covering the Center only to find out there was a “profit sharing” arrangement between the LASlimes & Staples where they split the ad revenue from that supplement.

My dad, an old newspaper man, immediately canceled his subscription and refuses to even read it any more. He was aghast.

There is little integrity left in “journalism”
