Chuck Hagel, nominee for Secretary of Defense, took money from Hamas supporters?

As Allahpundit would say, “Dude?”

On Thursday, Senate sources told Breitbart News exclusively that they have been informed that one of the reasons that President Barack Obama’s nominee for Secretary of Defense, Chuck Hagel, has not turned over requested documents on his sources of foreign funding is that one of the names listed is a group purportedly called “Friends of Hamas.”

Yesterday, 25 senators sent a letter to Hagel demanding information on his foreign funding. Hagel has refused all such requests, prompting the senators to state, “in the judgment of the undersigned, a Committee vote on your nomination should not occur unless and until you provide the requested information.”

To quote from Article VII of Hamas’ charter:

The prophet, prayer and peace be upon him, said: The time will not come until Muslims will fight the Jews (and kill them); until the Jews hide behind rocks and trees, which will cry: O Muslim! there is a Jew hiding behind me, come on and kill him! This will not apply to the Gharqad, which is a Jewish tree

And their motto in Article VIII:

Allah is its goal, the Prophet its model, the Qur’an its Constitution, Jihad its path and death for the case of Allah its most sublime belief.

Yeah, I can kind of see where taking money from an organization that calls itself friends of these Jew-hating goons might throw a bit of a monkey wrench into the nomination process… As in, it may be time to start the final countdown on the Hagel nomination death watch.

Do they ever vet their nominees in this administration, or do they just not care?

  1. Carlos says:

    A) They couldn’t care less about what anyone outside of their own cell of believers thinks.

    B) Juxtaposed to a couple of articles I’ve read in the last two weeks extolling Hagel as a “moderate” on Israel, a “realist” about our friendship with Israel, and how he’s really, really, truly pro-Israel, why am I not surprised this has surfaced? (Of course, his defense will be that he was “unaware” of the funding/bribe, and will pledge to return it to them after he’s confirmed just so there could not possibly be any appearance of conflict here.)

Why is it that every nominee for every post in this administration gets a flood of LSM coverage about how they’re not really the way they have acted, voted and/or spoken in the past? Hagel is simply the latest in the continuous line that started from day 1 with the Son-of-a-Dog chief executive we have leading us to our destruction and ultimate irrelevancy. The Right “Reverend” Wright still may get his wish: God may yet damn America for putting this ideological buffoon, snake oil salesman and common neighborhood thug in charge.

  2. As with CIA diretor-designate John Brennan, the primary objection among Hagel’s shallow qualifications is that he is intellectually inferior for such a high-level position. Not to mention that, in addition, they are both abysmally stupid and certainly no match for our adversaries.
