Has no one told these poor misguided souls a flight across the Pacific to the US requires a minimum eight hours flying time coupled with added time for refueling stops or tanker rendezvous couplings? Because of headwinds aloft (jet streams) the return trip is almost triple that. Plenty of opportunities and temptations to defect are all long the way as well.

   (Well, at least they’re jets. I was kinda expecting maybe two or three prop planes.)
