Not to dispute you, Drew, but I guess my friend the cop who served on the USS Enterprise was a liar, then, when he told me back in ’68 about losing those planes. My memory might be shallow on what years he told me, but it certainly remembers what he said about losing the planes.

Not possible, Brontefan. Truman was President until ’53 at which time Korea was winding down and Eisenhower was elected to succeed him. Truman did desperately want a shot at upstaging the recently-defeated French. Agreed about JFK and the “advisors” and LBJ watching the war on TV in the Oval Office, thiking he knew more about it than the on-scene commanders. This despite the fact he never wore a uniform in defense of this country.

There is plenty of documentation that JFK was not about to send ground troops to Vietnam. Basically, he refused the Joint Chiefs of Staff… and it’s on video. It was LBJ who escalated the Vietnam war. Kennedy, having served in WW2, was not interested in having a ground war in Vietnam. Military advisors only. AND BTW, Drew… the president who got us into the Vietnam issue was Harry S. Truman. Once again, Dems believed we could succeed where another country was unable to.

Wrongo, Carlos. We had no active combat role in Vietnam until JFK and LBJ got that started. The French were defeated at Dien Bien Phu in ’54, after which our role was simply advisory. The commiecrats got the shooting war started. Having left Korea in ’53 Eisenhower was not so eager to immediately get us involved in another Asian land war. BTW the USS Enterprise was scrapped in ’58 and later rebuilt as a nuclear carrier in the ’60′s.

Hate to disagree with you, Drew, but we werer losing an average of a plane a week from the USS Enterprise in the last couple of years of the ’50s, and that would make it Eisenhower’s war.

What Kennedy did was escalate it some, but Texas Liar Johnson jumped in whole hog and allowed the LSM traitors to run us as the bad guys losing the war, and America at the time hated losers.

Obviously they don’t hate losers now, hence, the questionably elected prez we’ve got with his merry band of thieves and losers, and losers running Congress (yes, John, I’m talking ’bout YOU, too!) and losers who voted for them.

On point #14 “Escalation in Vietnam (1964)”, it is worth noting JFK got us involved there in the first place. LBJ made it worse with the phony Tonkin Gulf incidents (they never happened) to get his War Powers Act and making no efforts on the part of our POWs. It took a Repubican, Nixon, to straighten the mess out and salvge a “peace with honor” including a full accounting of the POWs, John McCain being numbered among them.
