Your point’s well taken, Carlos. Weakening the US will certainly have serious consequences world-wide. Undoing that situation should be #1 priority.

If the right administration follows him, that can be rectified relatively quickly – see how Reagan undid similar damage from the Carter years – if we haven’t been mortally sabotaged by Obama by then. But it will take a lot longer to exorcize the demons Obama has set loose in the middle east once that’s done.

Good analysis, GWR, except I would think biggest damage he (Obama) will do to the US and world peace will be to the United States itself, leaving it vulnerable to attack from bullies who now perceive us as weak and unwilling to fight for what we believe in, and to stand up to any but the weakest bullies (usually our allies).

As a punk hood bully he, of all people, should understand that.

FDR also had a soft spot for socialist dictators like Joe Stalin. The entire Cold War between the West and the Soviets, which lasted over 40 years, was made far worse when at Yalta FDR gave Stalin carte blanche to take over the countries of eastern Europe. The world still hasn’t completely recovered from that blunder.

With Obama’s incompetence in foreign affairs already well-established, one can only speculate how damaging his legacy will be, but it’s likely that the biggest damage he will do to the US and to world peace will be in the middle east.
