Manchin-Toomey falls short, 4 Dems vote with GOP, Obama throws a tantrum

Pretty much all you need to know about the defeat of the much-discussed “compromise” amendment from Senators Manchin and Toomey.  Here’s a full list of “defectors” from both sides:

Republicans who defected and voted “yes”:
Pennsylvania Sen. Pat Toomey
Illinois Sen. Mark Kirk
Maine Sen. Susan Collins
Arizona Sen. John McCain

Democrats who defected and voted “no”:
North Dakota Sen. Heidi Heitkamp
Arkansas Sen. Mark Pryor
Alaska Sen. Mark Begich
Montana Sen. Max Baucus
Nevada Sen. Harry Reid (Reid only voted no for procedural reasons, so that Democrats can call up the provision later on)

You can read our embarrassing celebrity President’s temper tantrum on this here (update: watch here) – complete with a photo demonstrating the use of predictable yet sympathetic political props, who I am not upset with – BTW. I’m disgusted with our President and his party using them, however, as if there are not those on the “other side” of this debate who have intensely personal reasons for not wanting the Manchin-Toomey amendment to pass. As always, the President, straw men firmly in hand, paints the opposition as “bought and paid for” while his is “people-driven.”

What a jerk.

The comment in the tweet shown has an obvious answer: the legislation, proposed and in the future, has absolutely nothing to do with preventing any such tragedies, it has only and specifically to do with getting guns out of the hands of those who could shoot back when our betters figure they’re strong enough to take over the country by using the useful tool cannon fodder that so blindly follows them.

Our society has enough laws to handle any issue, gun violence included. The root cause of the problem is the sad state of our mental health system. As long as the ACLU continues to fight any diagnosis of mental illness and successfully convince a gullible public that every mental facility is a replica of the one in “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest”, those slipping through the cracks will continue to buy guns, create mayhem, and overpopulate the streets and prisons.

If our Divider-in-Chief had the messianic powers he claims, he would have been able to divine a need for mental health care to be addressed in Obhammucare.

Barry and his minions, bein’ “on the jazz,” invested a great deal of political capital in this misguided (and IMO unconstitutional) effort. Yeah, I caught Barry’s act on a cable news channel earlier this afternoon. He was clearly p*ssed, and looked like he’d just swallowed a lemon.

Ahhhh, pooooor baby didn’t get his way and now will make sure every one of those no-account Repubs is gonna pay through the nose.

Yeah, that’s our real grown up leader, all right. Just like any other emotionally eight-year-old would do.

Why can’t he just go back to the ‘hood, snort his crack and leave us alone?

BTW, look for Dingy to bring it up again. That’s why he himself voted against it, so procedurally he could do that.

I don’t get the logic of using Sandy Hook parents to push legislation that wouldn’t have prevented Sandy Hook.

Because logic had nothing to do with it. With all due respect to the Sandy Hook parents, they were used. I know that, as is usually the case when someone loses a loved one, they look for something to compensate for the loss… that the death won’t have been in vain… to see perpetrators (in this case, an inanimate object) brought to justice… etc.
Remember, Obama’s expertise is community organizing (or agitating is probably a better word). He cut his teeth manipulating people and their victimhood, using optics and lies primarily; he’s an expert at it and continues it today while posing as a president. His perpetual campaigning is filled with telling his audience why they need to get even with the Man, and he’s just the guy to help them do it.

Logic isn’t his m.o. Emotions are where his pot of gold is.

    The Obamabongo ass-kisser promised

    Gun Grabbing Law was defeated.
    Iam waiting……

Kilgore: Smell that? You smell that?

    Lance: What?

Kilgore: Legislation, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that.

Kilgore: I love the smell of defeated legislation in the afternoon.
The smell, you know that legislative smell, the whole hill smelled like

    [sniffing, pondering]

Kilgore: LAME DUCK. Someday this administration’s gonna end…
