Cheering for Chairman Issa: White House Spox Jay Carney is a “paid liar”

He sure doesn’t mince words, does he? Β Via Politico:

The chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee blasted White House press secretary Jay Carney on Sunday, calling him a β€œpaid liar” who is not being truthful about the scandal at the Internal Revenue Service.

β€œTheir paid liar, their spokesperson, the picture behind, he’s still making up things about what happened and calling this a local rogue,” Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), said on CNN’s β€œState of the Union,” gesturing to a graphic of Carney on the set.

Issa’s committee provided CNN a transcript of an IRS employee interviewed under oath who said that it seemed as if the idea to single out conservative groups for additional scrutiny came from Washington. The Obama administration has maintained that local IRS agents in a single agency division have been responsible for the scandal.

β€œThis is a problem that was in all likelihood right out of Washington headquarters,” Issa said. β€œWe’re getting to proving it.”

Issa said the White House is not being truthful or forthcoming about the scandal.

β€œThe president’s spokesman – spokesperson – is saying whatever’s convenient at the time. The story changes,” Issa said.

Go get ’em, Congressman Issa!

The whitewashing
Well, um, this pretty much says it all, right?

“It is of great importance to set a resolution, not to be shaken, never to tell an untruth. There is no vice so mean, so pitiful, so contemptible; and he who permits himself to tell a lie once, finds it much easier to do it a second and third time, till at length it becomes habitual; he tells lies without attending to it, and truths without the world’s believing him.” –Thomas Jefferson
