Shock: “Feminists” play victim card after Rick Perry … *compliments* Wendy Davis

You knew it *had* to happen. Two days after newly-minted “hero” – TX state Senator Wendy Davis – tried to filibuster a pro-life bill that would have made the state’s abortion clinics safer and effectively banned the vacuum suction of unborn baby parts (aka abortion) out of a woman’s body after 20 weeks, she and other perpetual “victims of the patriarchy!!!!!” are flashing the victim card over “controversial” remarks made about Davis at the National Right to Life Convention, which is being held in Dallas. As usual, the serial liars at Think Progress led the way, first with a misleading headline that leaves out context, and second – with their usual half-cocked flair. First, the headline:

Rick Perry Attacks Wendy Davis: ‘She Was A Teenage Mother Herself’

You’d think by the headline alone (and TP was far from the only one that did this) the Governor was attacking Davis over the fact that she was a teenage mother. In reality, he wasn’t.  Of course, you wouldn’t know this until you read on down into the Think Progress piece a bit, which you can bet most “readers” there don’t do (bolded emphasis added by TP):

Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) directly attacked state Sen. Wendy Davis (D) during a speech at the National Right To Life conference on Thursday, arguing that the state senator who filibustered for 13 hours to defeat an omnibus anti-abortion bill should have learned from her own life experiences as a single mother to value “every life.”

“Who are we to say that children born into the worst of circumstances can’t grow to live successful lives?” Perry asked, before suggesting that Davis’ own struggles should have turned her against abortion:

PERRY: In fact, even the woman who filibustered the Senate the other day was born into difficult circumstances. She was the daughter of a single woman, she was a teenage mother herself. She managed to eventually graduate from Harvard Law School and serve in the Texas senate. It is just unfortunate that she hasn’t learned from her own example that every life must be given a chance to realize its full potential and that every life matters.

Fascinating, isn’t it, when you read what he said in context.  What is Perry’s “crime” here? Doing exactly what her most fanatical supporters have done: highlighted her history from the sticks to single-motherhood to the state senate in order to show how Davis herself thinks it’s perfectly ok for young women who are in the same single-and-pregnant positions both she and her mom were in to choose to abort their unborn children rather than keep them and give them the chance at being successful in life … an opportunity Davis’ mother gave to her, and Davis herself gave to her two children.  What’s “wrong” with this to Davis, other “feminists” and their willfully ignorant allies is not that Perry brought up her family history in and of itself  – as, again, they have done – but that he did so to prove a beautiful pro-life point about every unborn child deserving the opportunity at life militant abortion proponents like Davis want you to ignore.

In response to Perry’s remarks, Davis, that tough as nails, you GO GIRL! feminista who valiantly stood on her feet for 13 hours in power-pink tennies to the delight of “progressives ever”, suddenly and predictably developed a case of the vapors:

“Rick Perry’s statement is without dignity and tarnishes the high office he holds,” she said. “They are small words that reflect a dark and negative point of view. Our governor should reflect our Texas values. Sadly, Gov. Perry fails that test.”

Hilarious, when you consider that a majority of Texans actually stand with Perry in supporting banning abortions at 20 weeks.  Sounds like the Governor of the Lone Star state is more in line with fellow Texans than Davis, whose views on abortion are outside of the mainstream in her own state and, in reality, are more of a reflection of national feminist orgs whose opinions on abortion most Texans probably couldn’t care less about.

And since Sen. Davis brought up “values”, let’s pause to consider exactly what “values” she stood for on Tuesday night.  National Review Online’s Charles C.W. Cooke (bolded emphasis added by me):

We might recap: By the time that a baby has been in utero for one month, blood is pumping around the body. In the second month, facial features develop, including the growth of ears, eyes, arms, legs, toes, and fingers. At six weeks, the baby’s brain, spinal cord, and central nervous system are all pretty well formed — in outline at least. By the two-month mark, sensory organs begin to develop and bone replaces cartilage.

Three months in, arms, hands, fingers, feet, and toes are fully formed, and the baby can grab with its fists as well as open and close its mouth. Teeth are on their way, as are reproductive organs. In month four, the baby is fully formed, and eyelids, eyebrows, eyelashes, nails, and hair develop. At this point, a baby can suck his thumb, yawn, hiccup, stretch, and make faces. At 18 weeks, the baby can move around, and experience REM sleep, including dreams. At 20 weeks, some studies show, it can recognize its mother’s voice.

At each of these stages, had the bill been passed, it would have remained legal in Texas to kill the child. The law that Wendy Davis and her fellow “pro-science” acolytes so bravely stood against would have rendered it illegal to kill the child after this point. And when I say kill, I mean kill. I mean break bones, rip apart limbs, crush skulls, drain fluids, still a beating heart, annihilate a brain that is capable of dreaming, and crush a nervous system. I mean: Kill. As David Freddoso put it yesterday, “Wendy Davis can now say, When the moment came to stand up for smashing the life out of a baby 6 mos into pregnancy, I was up to the task.” This is not an accomplishment of which she should be proud.

Indeed.

The emerging myth of Ms. Davis is that she is a “fighter” when it comes to “women’s rights.”  The reality is much more disturbing, brutal, and bloody – and even more so when you consider more than half of all babies aborted are … girl babies.  Governor Perry was actually very delicate in the way he described Davis’ and her hypocrisy when it comes to the opportunities for women to grow, learn, and be a productive, successful members of society.  Had I been the Governor of Texas, I wouldn’t have been so nice.

Interestingly enough, those iconic “pink sneakers” she was wearing during her filibuster? They weren’t actually pink. They were “rouge red” – you know, the kind of red you’d see on the cutting room floor of the abortion clinics Ms. Davis so strongly supports.
