LOL Files: Spitzer says Weiner unfit for NYC mayor seat

Because we want to end the day on a humorous note. :) Via the NY Post:

After weeks of refusing to criticize his so-called Tabloid twin, disgraced governor Eliot Spitzer said this afternoon that serial sexter Anthony Weiner should not be mayor.

Speaking on MSNBC’s “Hardball with Chris Matthews,” the Luv Gov even said he’d fire any municipal workers who use their office computers to engage in the same perverted behavior as Weiner — who resigned from Congress in 2011 amid a sexting scandal.

“We have had a number of instances over the years where, inevitably of course, municipal employees, state employees have used computers and the like for improper purposes and there’s an appropriate sanction for that — and there should be,” said Spitzer, who’s running for city comptroller.

It’s his first bid for public office since he resigned as New York’s governor amid his own sex scandal – involving high-priced hookers – in 2008.

“You’re not going to vote for Anthony Weiner, can you just say that now?” Matthews pressed on the show. “You don’t think he should be Mayor of New York.”

Spitzer responded, “Fair point. That is correct.”

Matthews then tried to clarify which of the two points Spitzer was responding to by saying, “He should not be mayor of New York?”

“That is correct,” repeated Spitzer.

The article goes on to note that Weiner is tanking in the polls.  Not sure about Mr. Spitzer.

In other words, Spitzer’s convinced that fellow pervert Weiner is such a bag of damaged goods that even NY Democrats won’t vote for him in the primary, so he’s tossing his erstwhile buddy under the bus.

OTOH, if there’s anyone who knows from personal experience what it’s like to be completely unfit for public office, it’s Spitzer.

At some point we voters should have a contest: “Who was your most peculiar Elected Official?” We could do it by region, up here we had the Governor of NY resign when he hired a hooker, paid to have her travel across state lines, (a Mann Act violation, Spitzer). In NJ, we had a Governor resign after he brought back a boyfriend from Israel, and hired him as the State Security Adviser, even though he couldn’t get a security clearance from the FBI (McGreevey, who’s been married twice, has two daughters, and declared himself “an American Gay.” Maybe Weiner is just a high-tech pervert by comparison?

Again, in a huge city like NYC, are there no other possible candidates the Democrats can find who are better qualified to take a swing at running that important city other than these two self-absorbed losers?

  6. ALman says:

Well, Tex, what-d’you-say we mosey down the road to the saloon and geta bottle and think ’bout that.

Sorry. I’ve seen way too many westerns.

I think your question is a very pointed one. It’s one that I’ve asked quite a bit these past years about candidates for various public offices at the local, state, and national levels. Has our nation really sunk so low that there aren’t any better qualified persons to lead our nation?
