Harry Reid is lecturing other Senators on civility? Really?

We’ll file this one under the “Roll Your Eyes” department. Via Fox News:

The Democratic honcho who spent the last several days ridiculing House Speaker John Boehner as a pawn of the Tea Party gave his own chamber a lecture on civility Friday.

Senate Majority Harry Reid, in an unusual aside in the midst of a tense debate over the budget impasse, took to the floor to remind lawmakers about the rules of decorum. Guidance like: Senators should not address each other by their first names, they should address each other in the third person … and so on.

“We all have to understand that these rules create a little bit of distance so senators are more likely to debate ideas and less likely to talk about personalities,” Reid said. “And if we do that, we maintain a more civil decorum as a result. So I bring this matter to the attention of senators because we’ve fallen out of this habit. It’s gotten worse the last month or so.”

The reminder comes after Reid spent Thursday taunting Boehner as a coward who is singlehandedly keeping the partial government shutdown in force.

“We can’t perform the most basic functions of government because (Boehner) doesn’t have the courage to stand up to that small band of anarchists,” Reid said, arguing that Boehner could lift the government freeze by putting a spending bill on the floor and letting mostly Democrats pass it.

Unreal. Reid is one of the dirtiest players in the book when it comes to playing hardball and turning ideological disagreements into personal attacks on the opposition, yet he’s lecturing others on “civility”?  Wowsers.

For those of you new to paying close attention to how politics works, allow me to explain: What Reid is doing here is exactly what Barack Obama did in the aftermath of the attempted assassination of former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords: Calling for civil debate, a “new tone” in the public discourse which, for Democrats, translates into: Republicans need to shut up and let Democrats do all the talking. Don’t be fooled by either of these hypocritical blowhards.

Harry Reid

Senator Reid should practice what he preaches.

He’s a blathering, blubbering, bibbletwit of an asshat. Despicable… hateful. vindictive.. I’m more effective with four letter words but am refraining..

  2. Claymores says:

He is a danger to himself and others.

Only know that every time I hear one of these characters speak of yielding the floor to the “honorable” so-and-so, I remind myself that honor, if it is deserved, comes from the words and deeds of the office holder and not just because the person holds an office, especially when that particular office has been disgraced.

Sorry Harry, couldn’t hear you over the ticking of my bomb vest. Plus all these hostages I’ve taken are caterwauling something fierce.

“Reid Apologizes for Incivility Against Cruz”

This is bogus. It’s similar to the newspapers that make an incident a front-page headline, yet make any later retraction appear on page 49 in fine print. Seems to me quite a bit of this going around lately.

  6. It would do the heart of many a citizen good to see some congressman finally get an a*sful of Dingy Harry or one of the other loudmouthed commiecrats’ sh*t and pull off their jacket and tie and give him the good ol’ country a*s whuppin’ he so richly deserves. Right there in front of God and everybody. Decorum, parliamentary procedure, and rules of order be damned.

  7. Hoss says:

Things fall to shit, Harry, when there is no leadership. A perfect example of how poorly you are doing at your job, and a microcosm of why this country is doing so patheticly under Obama’s complete lack of leadership skills.

  8. Tex says:

Harry’s antipsychotic medication hasn’t been working for many years now. I wish his psychiatrist would switch him over to one of the newer and much more powerful antipsychotics soon. At least I hope his caregivers try to keep all sharp objects away from him.

  9. Carlos says:

Well, Dingy can call for all the “rules of decorum” he wants and feel safe in doing so because, you know, Boehner isn’t a senator, and Cruz? Heck, obviously he’s not even a real human, what with a name like that and the fact he’s a TEA party favorite…

Reid is a sick, twisted, brain-damaged former punching bag whose racist and bigoted basic belief system will eventually bring him down. My guess is that even the SEIU will eventually find someone else that’s deeper into communism, and drop Reid like the bag of pig poop he is.
