Some people, men included, do not recognize their limits until they slam into them. One item not mentioned is the phenomenon of the “blackout drunk” who cannot remember the night before even when told the details. Another thing is there are some guys who are so indiscriminate they “would screw a cornfield if they thought there was a gopher hole in it”, as the old saying goes.

Ayn Rand once wrote about the vacuum in the minds of our contemporary young, which explains perfectly the appeal of mind-altering, often mind-numbing drugs. Clearly, Nature abhors that sort of vacuum quite as much as any other. But then, the saying “An idle mind is the Devil’s playground” has rather a long pedigree, doesn’t it?

I’m not about to defend date rape or raping of binge-drinking drunks, but people (both men and women) who voluntarily get themselves into that situation have to be mind-numbingly stupid.

If they’re fortunate, someone will be there to defend them, or honor their pride and protect them.

I wouldn’t want to count on it, though. In such a situation, even one’s BFF can’t be counted on. The only real solution (since we all know humans in general will take advantage of other humans under certain circumstances) is don’t place yourself in the situation to begin with.

That is not to defend the attackers, or accuse the victims. It is simply a comment on the evil of humans.

As Bill Munny said to Little Bill Daggett, right before he sent him to hell, “‘Deserves’ got nothin’ to do with it.”

Certainly not with the point of rape prevention. That is, it so goes without saying that we should stop saying it and continue to insist on the realities of life. If you drink with a bunch of low class people, you’ll likely pay some nasty price for doing so. If you flaunt your “assets” amongst them, you raise the possibility of suffering that nastiness.

I could go on, but regardless of how many ways you can say it, how many examples of what NOT to do, all of it will be seen by some idiots as just another part of the “war on women”. But then, there’s a whole political party that acts without any regard for reality. Not too hard to understand that individuals exist who also pay it no heed.

I have only daughters. So far, only granddaughters. The leftists and feminists (forgive the redundancy) can kiss my backside. My “womenfolk” will be properly warned and instructed and they will understand.

There is a criminal case going on at the Naval Academy, in which a 20 year old Midshipman was allegedly raped by three other Midshipmen, after she had consumed so much alcohol that she could not consent, and enough that she does not remember being raped. The three men are facing charges, but it has to be asked: how is it that an underaged Academy Midshipman who managed to get herself stinking drunk is not being punished for breaking the law herself? We aren’t talking about some woman at a civilian college, where such stupidity goes unpunished — other than by the consequences — but the United States Naval Academy, where Midshipmen are subject to strict rules and regulations.

If they raped her, the three Midshipmen in question should be convicted and sentenced according to the law, but the victim herself should be dropped from the Academy for her own behavior.

This same article showed up today (Sunday) in the “Dallas Morning News” so it is good that it is receiving a wide distribution.

However, I noticed after picking up the paper and heading home with it the truck was pulling hard to the left. Happens every time. Unload the DMN and it drives just fine.

I have two granddaughters, the oldest is 16 and her brother is 19. For the last couple of years, she has complained to me about how her brother could do things that she is not allowed to do. I sat her down one afternoon and explained to her that although it isn’t fair and it isn’t right, we, as women, have to take precautions that men don’t have to take. I told her the truth how about the way women dress, do drugs, drink and/or go places that are undesirable and unsafe. Yes, my oldest grandson has made some bad choices and he paid for them (was arrested for several things but no one hurt etc.) but the price was not rape and/or physical assault. That is the other thing that happens to women when they get into a position of not having a clear mind: not only are they raped but they are often beaten, severely, and some are murdered. I live in Northern California and there was a 15 year old who was raped and beaten by at least 15 boys while another bunch watched. She had not been a drinker and it didn’t take much alcohol to render her senseless. Her life will never be the same and that is what we as mature women must get across to the young. The things that happen to us are life changing and the perpetrators, for the most part, do not suffer consequences. (I am not saying all males don’t suffer consequences but a lot don’t) This is particularly true if the girls/women don’t report the crime. These guys are then free to do this again. That is the true “war on women”.
