Charlie Crist: Democrats should embrace #Obamacare in midterm elections

Charlie Crist is running for Governor of Florida – this time as a Democrat.

CNN reports that infamous flip-flopper Charlie Crist is encouraging his newfound political teammates to “strengthen up” and embrace Obamacare (hat tip):

Former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, who’s looking to get his old job back – this time as a Democrat – argued Sunday that Democrats need to β€œstrengthen up” and own Obamacare in this year’s midterms.

On CNN’s β€œState of the Union,” Crist panned his former party, the GOP, but admitted that the Sunshine State’s economy has improved under Republican Gov. Rick Scottβ€”though he argued it could be β€œa lot better.”

The Republican-turned-Democrat gave a full-throated defense of the Affordable Care Act, a law Democrats are largely keeping quiet about after the federal website’s rollout turned into a fiasco last fall.

But Crist said those Democrats β€œought to strengthen up.”

β€œThis is going to be a very popular program,” he told CNN chief political correspondent Candy Crowley.

Crist argued Democrats are β€œoverthinking,” and they should simply support President Obama, despite his recent spateΒ of low approval numbers.

β€œHe deserves (their support), and that will bring them home and unify them and that will make November very good for Democrats,” Crist said.

This is quite comical coming from a notorious political chameleon who drops his support of both policy and party when the political winds shift against him.

Nevertheless, I sure hope Democrats – especially Senate Democrats – take his advice and fully embrace the so-called “Affordable Care Act”, considering how their current support of it is really hurting their numbers in key states like NC and LA. I really, really do.
