There is an old saying that the only people who try to predict the weather here in West Texas are fools and newcomers. The spring winds and dust have finally let up, for now anyway.
The mesquite trees are fairly good indicators of the coming and going of cold weather, however, they got fooled this year. An old-timer told me he had seen it happen once in the ’30s. A late freeze bit them back a couple weeks ago. Global warming, my a*s! More like “globaloney”.
I’m presently in Norfolk, VA. And yep, the weather is pretty good right now.
Still, I’d rather be home where it’s cool, overcast and wet right now. But I’ve been away for ten months and am a bit of whiner.
One thing being overlooked in the set-to in Ukraine is that the aggressor troops are wearing “sheep-dipped” or generic uniforms bearing no country’s identifying insignia. Any such troops are NOT covered by the protections of the Geneva accords regarding battlefield atrocities, treatment of prisoners, etc.
Putin could be trying to provoke an outrage which could be played up to the world media, an all-time favorite commie tactic.
