MSDNC’s @Toure takes heat for “power of whiteness” remarks about Holocaust survivors

Toure
MSDNC’s Touré.

Toure is no stranger to controversy [1] – especially on issues like abortion and race, but this time he stooped to even lower lows [2] (hat tip [3]):

Late last week, MSNBC host Touré responded to a Twitter user [4] who compared his family’s survival of the Holocaust to African-American’s survival of slavery with this message:

The Simon Wiesenthal Center addressed Touré’s ignorance and bigotry today:

“It’s obviously absurd and smacks of intense and disgusting anti-Semitism. It’s reverse-racism basically,” Efraim Zuroff, Israel office director of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, said in a statement to TheBlaze [7]. “There is no question that part of the anti-Semitism that we see has its roots in the form of jealousy. This is a perfect example: ‘Jews made it because they’re white and Jews.’”

To the Tourés of the world, everything revolves around race – including whether or not you were ‘powerful’ enough as a ‘white person’ to survive, escape, and prosper during and after the Holocaust.

He hasn’t yet addressed the massive backlash surrounding what he said. His “The Cycle [8]” show airs at 3 pm ET weekdays on MSNBC, so perhaps he’ll have a response at the next airing. Stay tuned.
